Massive open online courses (MOOCs) are intentionally designed to be easily accessible to many learners, regardless of their academic level or age. MOOCs leverage internet-based technology, allowing anybody with an internet connection to have unrestricted access, regardless of their location or time limitations. MOOCs provide a versatile and easy opportunity for acquiring top-notch education, enabling anyone to learn at their preferred speed, free from limitations of time, cost, or geographical location. Given the advantages they offer, MOOCs are a valuable method for improving the quality and availability of education in Indonesia. Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, colleges and institutions have implemented the establishment of digital campuses. One important characteristic of these digital campuses is that they prioritize processes but overlook data and lack standardized standards. The problems and fundamental causes include challenges related to the comprehensive information architecture. The main factor contributing to this challenge is the absence of uniform and well-defined information standards. The existing connectivity and data exchange mechanisms in several schools are poor, leading to substantial data discrepancy among various departments due to the limited content of the fundamental data utilized. Moreover, the absence of clear information about the reliable source of data exacerbates the problem. The main objectives of data governance are to improve data quality, eliminate data inconsistencies, promote extensive data sharing, utilize data aggregation for competitive benefits, supervise data modifications based on data usage patterns, and comply with internal and external regulations and agreed-upon data usage standards. The aim of this project is to create a data governance framework that is customized to the specific conditions in Indonesia, with a specific emphasis on MOOC providers. The researcher chose design science research (DSR) as the research paradigm as it can successfully tackle relevant issues linked to the topic by creating innovative artefacts about the data governance framework for MOOC providers in Indonesia. This research highlights the necessity and significance of implementing a data governance framework for MOOC providers in Indonesia, hence increasing their awareness of this requirement. The researchers incorporated components from the data management body of knowledge (DMBOK) into their data governance framework. This framework includes ten components related to data governance, which are further divided into sub-components within the MOOC providers’ framework.
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is profoundly transforming the information ecosystem, reshaping the ways in which information is produced, distributed, and consumed. This study explores the impact of AI on the information environment, examining the challenges and opportunities for sustainable development in the age of AI. The research is motivated by the need to address the growing concerns about the reliability and sustainability of the information ecosystem in the face of AI-driven changes. Through a comprehensive analysis of the current AI landscape, including a review of existing literature and case studies, the study diagnoses the social implications of AI-driven changes in information ecosystems. The findings reveal a complex interplay between technological innovation and social responsibility, highlighting the need for collaborative governance strategies to navigate the tensions between the benefits and risks of AI. The study contributes to the growing discourse on AI governance by proposing a multi-stakeholder framework that emphasizes the importance of inclusive participation, transparency, and accountability in shaping the future of information. The research offers actionable insights for policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society organizations seeking to foster a trustworthy and inclusive information environment in the era of AI, while harnessing the potential of AI-driven innovations for sustainable development.
The sustainable development of the global economy and society necessitates the integration of environmental and socially responsible management, known as ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance). Despite growing recognition of ESG’s importance, the strategic management of ESG factors in Kazakhstan’s telecommunications industry remains underexplored. This study bridges this gap by analyzing Kazakh telecom’s ESG strategies from 2019 to 2021 through a cross-sectional design and semi-structured interviews with 12 industry experts. Utilizing the National Rating Agency (NRA) methodology, the research evaluates environmental, social, and governance variables. Key findings reveal that Kazakh telecom excels in “Climate Change” and “Human Capital Management” but needs significant improvements in “Environmental Impact” and “Society.” The study offers specific recommendations such as enhancing corporate volunteering, responsible marketing, service quality, and integrating sustainable practices. The primary contributions of this research include actionable insights for improving ESG strategies in telecommunications companies and advocating for more systematic and standardized ESG assessment approaches. This study expands the understanding of how ESG principles can enhance competitiveness and sustainable development in the telecommunications industry, providing valuable guidance for industry practitioners and policymakers. It offers insights into effective ESG implementation practices and highlights critical areas requiring attention to drive sustainable development in telecommunications.
The present study analyzed the extant literature about the phenomenon of human trafficking in Indonesia. The Scope Analysis examined scholarly journals and publications from 2012 to 2020. We obtained databases from internationally recognized journals such as Scopus and Web of Science. We restricted the time frame based on the available evidence at that moment. The methodology employed in this study involved the identification, collection, and organization of peer evaluations that were published with pertinent details or by delineating the fundamental concepts that constitute the domain of a research investigation concerning chronology, location (nation or setting), source (literature review), and provenance. The findings of the analysis indicated the existence of articles that delved into the circumstances and current state of persons who fell victim to human trafficking, specifically from Indonesia to different regions throughout the globe. The analysis approach was utilized in this study, following the methodological parameters outlined by Arksey and O’Malley in 2005. Moreover, it is anticipated that the Scoping Analysis will generate policy recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers seeking to combat and address the illicit trafficking of individuals in Indonesia.
In recent years, information technology and social media has developed very rapidly and has had an impact on government services to the public. Social media technology is used hugely by several developing countries to provide services, information and promote information disclosure in its government to improve its performance. This study aims to build role of social media technology concept as a public service delivery facilitator to the public. Furthermore, it discusses the potential impact of social media use on government culture. To achieve the goal, this study combines two theories, namely government public value theory and green smart city with four variables, namely quality of public services, user orientation, openness, and greenness. These variables are used as the foundation for data collection through in-depth interviews and group discussion forums. In-depth interviews are utilized as data search and direct observation. The informants consist of several government elements, including heads of regional apparatus organizations, heads of public service malls and Palembang city government employees. The study revealed that the Palembang government has several social media-based public services that have quality of services, user-orientation, openness, and environmental friendliness.
