Purpose: The study examines the mediating effect of self-emotion appraisal and other-emotion appraisal on psychological safety, individual resilience, and organizational commitment at the workplace. Design/methodology/approach: This study generated 140 survey responses from workers in diverse occupations and industries during the COVID-19 pandemic. A mixed-methods data analysis was conducted. Hierarchical regression analysis was employed to test the hypotheses, and process macroanalysis was used to generate the mediation analysis. Qualitative data analysis through thematic coding was adopted to interpret the respondents’ written opinions and narratives. Findings: The results revealed that self-emotion appraisal strongly correlates to resilience, but evaluation of self-emotion has no effect on organizational commitment. Other-emotion appraisal and psychological safety are not significant predictors of resilience at the workplace. Rather, psychological safety is a significant predictor of organizational commitment. The qualitative analysis generated from the respondents’ narratives provides deeper insight into the quantitative results. Additional data that emerged from the qualitative interpretation revealed other factors that are related to emotional appraisal, psychological safety, resilience, and organizational commitment. Practical implications: The findings shed light on the need to understand an individual’s emotional appraisal when instilling workplace resilience. Further, promoting psychological safety, such as by involving employees in the change process, managing fairness perception, and eliciting trust, enhances organizational commitment in the workplace. Integrating open communication, management intervention, and coaching programmes should form part of the employee engagement and development functions to help build organizational resilience and commitment. Originality/value: This research is an original contribution conducted during the global health crisis that led to abrupt changes in the workers’ lives and the workplaces in Singapore. Research implications: This present study demonstrated constructive findings on emotion regulations and perceived psychological safety associated with resilience and commitment amid the disruptive changes in work practices at the workplace. Further, the outcome of the study shows the mediating effect of self-emotional appraisal on psychological safety and resilience. The result draws parallels with past literature that showed that individuals who appraised their emotions tended to recalibrate and recognize their subjective behaviour and take actions to modify it. Social implications: Emotion regulation connotes employees’ emotion coping strategies, and research showed that emotion reappraisal produces a positive effect on workplace relationship quality.
Burnout and workaholism, known to decrease efficiency and lead to depersonalisation, have negative effects on both employees and organisations. The survey aimed to analyse the correlation between burnout and workaholism among selected employees in the public and private sectors in Slovenia. The goal was to compare the results obtained in the administrative units and at the two selected banks. Various methodological approaches were employed, including statistical tests such as multivariate analysis, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests, Spearman’s rank-order correlation coefficient, and the Mann-Whitney U test. Survey results indicate statistically significant differences between employees in administrative units and those in two banks. Workaholism is higher among employees in administrative units than at banks. Positive correlations were found between workaholism and the two dimensions of burnout, both among employees in administrative units and in the selected banks.
An experiment was conducted to assess the effect of psychoenergetic energy in litchi as positive and negative thoughts using a simple meditation technique at ICAR-NRC on Litchi, Muzaffarpur. The plant produced 24.75 g of fruit given positive energy, while the plant with negative thought energy produced 22.12 g of fruit. The fruit and seed weight increased by 11.88% and 13.63%, respectively, due to positive energy. The number of fruit retentions increased by 23.77% due to positive energy. Anthocyanin content in pericarp was increased by 5.45% in plants given positive energy. Fruit qualities were also significantly affected by psychoenergy. TSS (Brix) was significantly increased by 13.54% in plants given positive energy as compared to negative energy, and titratable acidity was reduced by 25% due to positive energy. Ascorbic acid was also increased by 30% in plant given positive thoughts. Sun burn was reduced by 54.76% and fruit cracking by 63.64% due to energy of thought. Fruit borer infestation was reduced by 70%, and mite infestation was reduced by 90% in plants given positive energy. The psychoenergetic potential is vast, and its ability to improve crop yield and quality cannot be overstated. The hidden power of thought is being practiced by all, but mostly people do not know this power and use it in an improper manner. This is a high time when we need to practice generating powerful thoughts to change present-day agriculture and its dependents.
The current with the rapid development of Internet and new media technology, the information openness and diversity makes ideological education is facing big challenge, in accordance with the "five a three-ring four law" teaching mode,the fundamental task of implementing ideological and political education, fostering values and cultivating talents is comprehensively carried out. Modelling and simulation have now become standard methods that serve to cut the economic costs of R&D for novel advanced systems. This paper introduces the study of modelling and simulation of the infrared thermography process to detect defects in the hydroelectric penstock. A 3-D penstock model was built in ANSYS version 19.2.0. Flat bottom holes of different sizes and depths were created on the inner surface of the model as an optimal scenario to represent the subsurface defect in the penstock. The FEM was applied to mimic the heat transfer in the proposed model. The model’s outer surface was excited at multiple excitation frequencies by a sinusoidal heat flux, and the thermal response of the model was presented in the form of thermal images to show the temperature contrast due to the presence of defects. The harmonic approximation method was applied to calculate the phase angle, and its relationship with respect to defect depth and defect size was also studied. The results confirmed that the FEM model has led to a better understanding of lock-in infrared thermography and can be used to detect subsurface defects in the hydroelectric penstock.
Great country craftsmen are skilled craftsmen who strive for the prosperity and prosperity of the country and the well-being of the people in important positions related to the national economy and people's livelihood. The key to cultivating craftsmen in major countries lies in the Party. However, in a vocational undergraduate survey, it was found that the Party's political, ideological, organizational, work style, and institutional leadership role was not well played in the process of cultivating craftsmen in major countries. To this end, we should focus on reflecting the "two safeguards" throughout the entire process of cultivating craftsmen in major countries, and strengthen the Party's comprehensive leadership over the cultivation of craftsmen in major countries; We should adhere to using the Party's innovative theory to guide the practice of cultivating great country craftsmen, and integrate ideological and political work throughout the cultivation of great country craftsmen, in order to promote the construction of grassroots party organizations with high quality, and play a leading role in cultivating craftsmen in major countries; we should also take the lead in actively researching and solving problems, and promote reform, innovation, and development, so as to improve the institutional system for leading the cultivation of craftsmen in major countries through party building, and enhance the institutional execution ability of party members and members.
