Currently there is a great acceptance in medicine and dentistry that clinical practice should be “evidence-based” as much as possible. That is why multiple works have been published aimed at decreasing radiation doses in the different types of imaging modalities used in dentistry, since the greater effect of radiation, especially in children, forces us to take necessary measures to rationalize its use, especially with Cone Beam computed tomography (CBCT), the method that provides the highest doses in dentistry. This review was written using such an approach with the purpose of rationalizing the radiation dose in our patients. In order to formulate recommendations that contribute to the optimization of the use of ionizing radiation in dentistry, the SEDENTEXCT project team compiled and analyzed relevant publications in the literature, guidelines that have demonstrated their efficiency in the past, thus helping to see with different perspectives the dose received by patients, and with this, it is recommended taking into account this document so as to prescribe more adequately the complementary examinations that we use on a daily basis.
Magnetite magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) exhibit superparamagnetic behavior, which gives them important properties such as low coercive field, easy superficial modification and acceptable magnetization levels. This makes them useful in separation techniques. However, few studies have experimented with the interactions of MNP with magnetic fields. Therefore, the aim of this research was to study the influence of an oscillating magnetic field (OMF) on polymeric monolithic columns with vinylated magnetic nanoparticles (VMNP) for capillary liquid chromatography (cLC). For this purpose, MNP were synthesized by coprecipitation of iron salts. The preparation of polymeric monolithic columns was performed by copolymerization and aggregation of VMNP. Taking advantage of the magnetic properties of MNP, the influence of parameters such as resonance frequency, intensity and exposure time of a OMF applied to the synthesized columns was studied. As a result, a better separation of a sample according to the measured parameters was obtained, so that a column resolution (Rs) of 1.35 was achieved. The morphological properties of the columns were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results of the chromatographic properties revealed that the best separation of the alkylbenzenes sample occurs under conditions of 5.5 kHz and 10 min of exposure in the OMF. This study constitutes a first application in chromatographic separation techniques for future research in nanotechnology.
Taking six typical forest communities in Taizhou Green Heart (ⅰ: Liquidambar formosana + Ulmus pumila + Celtis sinensis; ⅱ: Celtis sinensis + Pterocarya stenoptera + Pinus massoniana; ⅲ: Sapindus mukorossi + Sapium sebiferum + Cupressus funebris; ⅳ: Liquidambar formosana + Acer buergerianum + Cupressus funebris); ⅴ: Celtis sinensis + Ligustrum compactum + Pinus massoniana; ⅵ: Machilus ichangensis + Sapindus mukorossi + Acer buergerianum) as the research objects, 5 indicators: Shannon-Wiener (H), Patrick richness (R1), Margalef species richness (R2), Pielou evenness (J) and ecological dominance (D) were used to analyze species diversity in forest communities. The results showed that: (1) the community was rich in plant resources, with a total of 50 species belonging to 40 genus and 31 families, including 19 species in tree layer, 22 species in shrub layer and only 9 species in herb layer, few plant species; (2) the species richness and diversity index of tree layer and shrub layer were significantly higher than that of herb layer, but there were differences among different communities in the same layer, and no significant difference was reached; (3) the species richness and community diversity of the six communities showed as follows: community VI > community I > community II > community IV > community V > community III.
Taking the west slope of Cangshan Mountain in Yangbi County, Dali as the research site, on the basis of investigating the local natural geographical conditions, topography and biodiversity status of Cangshan Mountain, the CAP protection action planning method was adopted, and the priority protection objects were determined to be native forest vegetation, rare and endangered flora and fauna, alpine vertical ecosystems, hard-leaf evergreen broad-leaved forests and cold-tempered coniferous forests; The main threat factors were commercial collection, tourism development and overgrazing. Biodiversity conservation on the western slope of Cangshan Mountain should take species as “point”, regional boundary as “line”, ecosystem and landscape system as “plane”, so as to realize the overall planning structure system combining “point—line—plane”, which can be divided into conservation core area, buffer zone and experimental area. The results can provide a reference for biodiversity conservation on the western slope of Cangshan Mountain.
No less than 60% of timber production in Peru’s natural forests is the result of informal or illegal extractive activities that, by definition, are not sustainable. This article aims to demonstrate that even legitimate timber, such as timber harvested in more than 6 million hectares of forest concessions, does not meet the basic requirements of sustainable forest management. Forestry legislation itself, which does not emphasize forest management, institutional weaknesses and the socioeconomic environment are the main causes. In addition, the cutting cycles and the authorized minimum diameters, among other practices, do not allow the renewal of the resource and increase its degradation.
The application of nanotechnology in the food industry enables prioritization of consumers’ needs. Nanotechnology has the ability to provide new forms of control on food structure; therefore, this technology has higher industrial value. This paper briefly introduces the main concepts of nanotechnology and its correlation with size reduction performance. This paper also introduces the main nanobjects and their potential applications in food, and summarizes various studies and their applications in food industry.
