Political representation is responsible for choices regarding the supply and the management of transport infrastructure, but its decisions are sometimes in conflict with the will and the general interest expressed by citizens. This situation has progressively prompted the use of specific corrective measures in order to obtain socially sustainable decisions, such as the deliberative procedures for the appraisal of public goods. The standard Stated Choice Modelling Technique (SCMT) can be used to estimate the community appreciation for public goods such as transport infrastructure; but the application of the SCMT in its standard form would be inadequate to provide an estimation that expresses the general interest of the affected community. Hence the need to adapt the standard SCMT on the basis of the operational conditions imposed by deliberative appraisal procedures. Therefore, the general aim of the paper is to outline the basic conditions on which a modified SCMT with deliberative procedure can be set up. Firstly, the elements of the standard SCMT on which to make the necessary adjustments are identified; subsequently, modifications and additions to make to the standard technique are indicated; finally, the contents of an extensive program of experimentation are outlined.
Young people are a traditional risk group for radicalization and involvement in protest and extremist activities. The relevance of this topic is due to the growing threat of youth radicalization, the expansion of the activities of extremist organizations, and the need to organize high-quality preventive work in educational organizations at various levels. The article provides an overview of research on the topic under consideration and also presents the results of a series of surveys in general educational institutions and organizations of secondary vocational education (n = 11,052), universities (n = 3966) located in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The results of the study on aspects of students’ ideas about extremism are presented in terms of assessing their own knowledge about extremism, the presence/absence of radically minded people around them, determining the degree of threat from the activities of extremist groups for themselves and their social environment, and identifying approaches to preventing the growth of extremism in society. Conclusions are drawn about the need to improve preventive work models in educational organizations towards a targeted (group) approach.
This study investigates the role of property quality in shaping booking intentions within the dynamic landscape of the hospitality sector. A comprehensive approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative methodologies, is employed, utilising Airdna’s dataset spanning from July 2016 to June 2020. Multiple regression models, including interaction terms, are applied to scrutinise the moderating role of property quality. The study unveils unexpected findings, particularly a counterintuitive negative correlation between property quality and booking intentions in Model 7, challenging conventional assumptions. Theoretical implications call for a deeper exploration of contextual nuances and psychological intricacies influencing guest preferences, urging a re-evaluation of established models within hospitality management. On a practical note, the study emphasises the significance of continuous quality improvement and dynamic strategies aligned with evolving consumer expectations. The unexpected correlation prompts a shift towards more context-specific approaches in understanding and managing guest behavior, offering valuable insights for both academia and the ever-evolving landscape of the hospitality industry.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has both positive and negative impacts, particularly in term of increasing plagiarism. This research analyzes Indonesia’s plagiarism regulations and offers solutions. It uses doctrinal methods with legislative, case, and comparative studies, revealing that plagiarism is regulated but not specifically for AI involvement. The results show that plagiarism in scientific work has actually been regulated through several regulations. On the other hand, there is no regulation governing the involvement of AI in the process of preparing scientific articles. Comparative studies show that the US, Singapore, and the EU have advanced regulations for AI in education. The US has copyright laws for AI works and state regulations, Singapore’s Ministry of Education has guidelines for AI integration and ethics, and the EU has the Artificial Intelligence Act. To tackle AI-related plagiarism in Indonesia, the study suggests enacting AI-specific laws and revising existing ones. Ministerial and Rector statutes should address technical aspects of AI use and plagiarism checks. The Ministry should issue guidelines for universities to develop Standard Procedures for Writing and Checking Scientific Work, using reliable AI-checking software. These measures aim to prevent plagiarism in Indonesia’s educational sector.
Using a qualitative research methodology and explanatory approach to collect data, we assessed whether the Beijing Consensus diplomacy in Africa is a promoter or threat to Africa’s pathway to sustainable development. The collected data were analysed using document and content analysis techniques. Analysis of the data revealed that the Beijing Consensus diplomacy in Africa is a positive initiative that has created a win-win situation, promoting sustainable development. The Beijing Consensus is opposed to the Washington Consensus, which influenced a win-lose situation that has deepened poverty, making Africa unable to move towards achieving sustainable development. The study found that China’s resource-for-development approach has similarities with pre-colonial Africa’s barter trade approach, which Africans practised in the entire continent. The analysis showed that applying the Beijing Consensus diplomacy to Africa has led to economic growth and development. The results showed that China’s Belt Road Initiative has transformed Africa, changing the continent from poverty to economic productivity, as road infrastructure is associated with economic growth and development. Moreover, it was evident from the analysis that without an African continental foreign policy rooted in continental sovereignty with transparent terms and conditions, Africa’s current benefits from China’s investments would lead to poverty instead of sustainable development. A continental foreign policy would create an African Consensus, which would act on behalf of the entire continent. This African Consensus diplomacy would thus become a continental foreign policy defining Africa globally. However, as it stands, the Beijing Consensus diplomacy is a promoter of sustainable development, but this promotion would not last long without African Consensus diplomacy. The study recommends that Africa should establish a continental foreign policy with African Consensus diplomacy to enable the continent to have one standard foreign policy and goal when trading with China and any other external world.
The relationship between new-quality productivity and educational equity is characterized by close mutual influence and co-evolution. Driven by technological innovation, new-quality productivity is profoundly transforming the economic and social landscape. Educational equity, a crucial component of social justice, is vital for ensuring equal development opportunities for all individuals. The robust growth of new-quality productivity not only optimizes the distribution of educational resources and enhances educational quality but also poses new challenges and demands for equity in education. In turn, the continuous advancement of educational equity provides a solid talent foundation and a conducive environment for innovation to new-quality productivity. These two aspects intertwine and progress together in various domains, including policy systems, cultural values, and educational practices. This interplay highlights the central role of new-quality productivity and educational equity in societal development, while also demonstrating their dynamic and complementary relationship.
