The Human Development Index, which accounts for both net foreign income and the total value of goods and services generated domestically, illustrates how income becomes less significant as Gross National Income (GNI) rises by using the logarithm of income. South Africa ranks 109th out of 189 countries in the Human Development Index (HDI) within the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) economic bloc, raising long-term sustainability concerns. The study explores the relationship between economic, demography, policy indicators and human development in South Africa. South Africa’s unique status as a developing country within the BRICS economic group, alongside its lengthy history of racial discrimination, calls for a sophisticated approach to understanding Human Development. Existing research considered economic, demography, policy indicators independently; the gap of understanding their interconnection and long-term effects in the South African contexts exists. The study addresses the gap by using Autoregressive-Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to investigate the short-term and the long-term relationship between economic, demography, policy indicators and human development in South Africa. By discovering these links, the study hopes to provide useful insights for policymakers seeking to promote sustainable human development in South Africa. The findings indicate that growth in GDP is a key factor in the HDI since it shows that there are more financial resources available for human development. By discovering these links, the study hopes to provide useful insights for policymakers seeking to promote sustainable human development in South Africa.
This study examines the impact of emotional intelligence (EI) and employee motivation on employee performance within the telecommunication industry in the Sultanate of Oman. The target population consisted of 4344 non-managerial employees across nine telecommunication companies, including Omantel, Ooredoo, Vodafone, Oman Broadband Company, Awasr Oman & Co, TEO, Oman Tower Company L.L.C, Helios Tower, and Connect Arabia International. Employing a deductive research approach, finally data were collected via an online survey from 354 respondents. The hypotheses were tested using multiple regression analysis. The results indicate that all dimensions of EI self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills positively and significantly influence employee performance, with social skills having the strongest effect. Furthermore, both intrinsic motivation factors, such as work itself and career development, and extrinsic motivation factors, including wages, rewards, working environment, and co-worker relationships, significantly enhance employee performance. The interaction between EI and employee motivation was found to amplify these positive effects. Among control variables, age and education level showed significant impacts, while gender did not. These findings underscore the critical role of both emotional intelligence and motivation in driving employee performance. The study suggests that managers and policymakers should adopt integrated strategies that develop EI competencies and enhance motivational factors to optimize employee performance, thereby contributing to the success of organizations in the telecommunication sector.
This study aimed to examine the impact of working conditions and sociopsychological factors on job satisfaction among office workers. Using data from the 2017–2018 Working Conditions Survey, exploring how workplace conditions and sociopsychological elements could impact job satisfaction. This study examined data from 9801 workers to explore the effects of working conditions and psychosocial environments on job enthusiasm, which subsequently impacts job satisfaction. Analyzing 1416 office workers, it found that fewer working hours, better work-life balance, improved work conditions, and lower depression levels enhance job enthusiasm, significantly affecting job satisfaction. The work environment had the most substantial impact, encompassing relationships with colleagues, task completion time, and confidence. Work-life imbalance and depression were also significant, with work-life balance being crucial for modern society, especially the younger generation. Poor working conditions and unstable psychosocial environments negatively affect job enthusiasm and satisfaction, with findings supporting previous research on job stress and turnover intentions in various industries. This study highlights the need for organizational policies that support these aspects to improve overall employee well-being and productivity.
With the wide application of the Internet and smart systems, data centers (DCs) have become a hot spot of global concern. The energy saving for data centers is at the core of the related works. The thermal performance of a data center directly affects its total energy consumption, as cooling consumption accounts for nearly 50% of total energy consumption. Superior power distribution is a reliable method to improve the thermal performance of DCs. Therefore, analyzing the effects of different power distribution on thermal performance is a challenge for DCs. This paper analyzes the thermal performance numerically and experimentally in DCs with different power distribution. First, it uses Fluent simulate the temperature distribution and flow field distribution in the room, taking the cloud computing room as the research object. Then, it summarizes a formula based on the computing power distribution in a certain range by the numerical and experimental analysis. Finally, it calculates an optimal cooling power by analyzing the cooling power distribution. The results shows that it reduces the maximum temperature difference between the highest temperature of the cabinet from 5-7k to within 1.2k. In addition, the cooling energy consumption is reduced by more than 5%.
Purpose: Religiosity as an intrinsic principle affects the sustainable behavior of consumers. Studies have been undertaken to discover the impact of religiosity on sustainable consumer behavior in various contexts, cultures, and countries. The current bibliometric study focused on religiosity and sustainable consumer behavior in Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries who has similar religions and cultures so that the research trend, contribution, and gap through thematic and content analysis could be investigated and future direction could be suggested. The literature for this study was solicited from 2016 to June 2024. Methodology: Bibliometrics and content analysis were used to study the existing literature on religiosity and sustainable consumption behavior in GCC countries. The VOS viewer was used to visualize literature and understand the network landscape of the research topic and their interconnectivity. Additionally, Scopus analytics and Microsoft Excel were used to review and analyze the religiosity of consumers regarding the sustainable consumption of products and services. Finding: The descriptive analysis revealed trends, prolific countries, and researchers in this area along with their affiliation. The co-occurrence analysis showed 3 main clusters of co-occurrences with various link strengths. The content analysis looked at the 6 clusters depicted by the coupling function and compared them against co-occurrence analysis to uncover related themes. This analysis produced 4 related themes for content analysis. Contribution: This research contributed to understanding the current themes, challenges, and the need for marketing strategies and action so that sustainable consumption could be encouraged. As such this research will fill the void in the current literature left in this research area. This research has practical and policy implications for businesses, organizations, and policymakers as they try to capture consumers for sustainable products and services in GCC countries.
The study aims to explain the relationship between the effectiveness of a business and its management through the analysis of working capital. The findings prove the complementary relationship. The analysis of working capital will always have a significant impact on the effectiveness of business management. The main objective of any corporation is to be effective in business, which can be achieved by analyzing the working capital. The result shows that analysis of working capital based on factors like operational efficiency, the company’s earnings and profitability, cash management, corporate receivable management, and corporate inventory management creates room for improvement and effectiveness in business management. Firms might enhance finances for business expansion by lowering their working capital requirements. It has also been revealed that there is a considerable difference in industries across time. It was observed that there is a high association between working capital efficiency and firm profitability. A highly efficient corporation is less vulnerable to liquidity risk and is also self-sufficient in terms of external finance. Numerous studies have been done to regulate the true rapport between working capital investments and their impact on financial presentation. It demonstrates that effective investment in working capital management may boost profitability and business value. The relationship between accounting and finance was explained by measuring working capital management in demand to illustrate the status of profitability. It was suggested that accountants take a more professional approach to updating their accounting and finance skills in their organization through effective working capital management.
