The world has never been more developed, yet humanity is on the brink of irreversible environmental loss. Despite the urgency of the situation, there is a limited body of studies addressing environmental concerns in higher education institution, particularly in developing countries, i.e., Saudi Arabia. Sustainable development is the only viable solution, albeit it requires the courage to initiate and sustain efforts dedicated to preserving the environment for the well-being of future generation. The article delves into this issue and examines the impact of environmental education program (EEP) on environmental performance (EP) via waste minimization behaviour (WMB). The research involved meticulous data collection from a sample of 597 students, representing diverse genders and academic specialties at the esteemed public university—King Faisal University (KFU) in Saudi Arabia. The study used statistical software (including SPSS and AMOS, v 25) for rigorous analysis and revealed significant findings. Firstly, the study showed a significant and positive relationship between EEP and EP. Secondly, it revealed a significant and positive association between EEP and WMB. Thirdly, the study ascertained a significant and positive association between WMB and EP. Finally, the study found that the relationship between EEP and EP remains significant even after presenting WMB as a mediator, proposing that WMB has a partial mediation role between EEP and EP. The results highlighted the significance role of EEP in stimulating WMB and achieving EP in the Saudi universities, which contributes to national initiative of green Saudia.
The growing attention paid to industrial tourism can be seen as one of the major trends in cultural tourism and marketing and has given currency to the proposition that customer experience of industrial tourism acts as a direct personal source of information about their perceptions of companies visited and is essential for customer relationship management of companies. This study applies the service theater theory and proposes a model to explore the structural relationships among theatrical elements of industrial tourism (including setting, performance, and actor), the dimensions of customer experience (enjoyment, learning, and escape), and customers’ behavior intentions. A survey of 500 industrial tourists in a transparent factory in the health food industry was conducted in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China. The results of structural equation modeling indicate that two theatrical factors (setting and performance) relate positively to all dimensions of customer experiences. In contrast, the theatrical factor “actor” only relates positively to the learning experience. Furthermore, all dimensions of customer experience, in turn, positively affect customers’ behavioral intentions. This study will be helpful for corporate managers and tourism organizers who aim to develop and implement marketing strategies based on the service theatre theory to improve their services.
Entrepreneurial intentions, considered to be the best predictor of entrepreneurial behaviour, have attracted extensive attention among academics, practitioners, and policymakers. This study examines the mediating role of the theory of planned behaviour between university students’ proactive personality, entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial opportunities, and entrepreneurial intentions. The results of this study showed that both attitudes toward entrepreneurship and perceived behavioural control mediated these relationships, except that perceived behavioural control did not mediate the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intentions, and subject norm did not mediate any relationship. Lastly, this study guides universities, policymakers and practitioners to fully focus on developing attitude entrepreneurship and perceived behaviour control through education and training among graduates and employees. Suppose there is a presence of good entrepreneurial opportunities. In that case, they will form stronger intentions to start new businesses and expand their businesses to drive socio-economic growth, innovation and job creation among graduates.
This paper critically reviews the prevailing generalizations in current research on Generation Z (Gen-Z) travel behavior. While various studies have characterized Gen-Z’s transportation preferences as leaning towards sustainable and technology-integrated modes of transport, this paper argues that the findings are largely based on observations from developed countries and may not accurately reflect behavior in developing countries. This paper is written using a narrative literature study approach. Through a comprehensive literature review, the paper highlights the differences in Gen-Z travel patterns across different geographical regions, emphasizing the need for context-specific analysis. The paper addresses often overlooked factors such as economic limitations, infrastructure challenges, and cultural nuances that shape mobility choices. The aim is to dissect the cohort effect and look at its validity across different socio-economic landscapes through existing literature. As such, the paper provides nuanced insights into the heterogeneity of Gen-Z travel behavior and suggests cautioning against over-generalization, as well as advocating for a more localized approach in transportation policy and planning. The paper also encourages similar research in developing countries to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Gen-Z travel behavior globally.
This paper aims to research the impact of psychological contract fulfilment on employee innovative work behaviour, and the mediating role of work engagement and the moderating role of social support. A quantitative analysis was adopted to address in research. Two-wave data were collected from 332 respondents working in China. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to assess the proposed hypotheses. Results revealed that psychological contract fulfilment positively impacted innovative work behaviour. In addition, engagement partially mediated the relationship between psychological contract fulfilment and innovative work behaviour. Furthermore, the findings suggest that social support moderates the relationship between work engagement and innovative work behaviour, and, in turn, moderates the indirect effect of psychological contract fulfilment on innovative work behaviour through work engagement. This research extends the generalizability of findings in the psychological contract literature. The results bear significant implications for the management of employees’ innovative work behaviour.
The study employed a qualitative approach to determine the influence and effectiveness of storytelling in shaping the Alpha generation’s buying decisions and consumption behaviours. The students of the University of Lagos Junior Secondary School were selected for the study. The interview questions were set to focus on factors like experiences, sources of storytelling communication, the outcomes and the affective effects. Twenty-five students were purposively selected out of one hundred and twelve (112) population for the interview based on the conditions for selection. Thematic analysis was used and a total of 244 themes were identified. Four (4) major themes were later identified in thematic synthesis through coding translation. The findings revealed that storytelling is effective and strategic in brands targeted at the Alpha generation, hence, the generation relied on storytelling to choose brands in convenience, impulsive and shopping products, and radio and television were the main sources of storytelling campaigns among the generation. Storytelling wrapped in songs, entertainment, dancing, drama, etc. captivated and influenced the generation, and children used the information from the storytelling campaigns to influence family purchase decisions and parents’ buying decisions and behaviours.
