Publications overestimating the medical and ecological sequels of a slight anthropogenic increase in the radiation background have been reviewed recently with examples of different organs and pathological conditions. The overestimation contributed to the strangulation of atomic energy. The use of nuclear energy for electricity production is on the agenda today due to the increasing energy needs of humankind. Apparently, certain scientific writers acted in the interests of fossil fuel producers. Health risks and environmental damage are maximal for coal and oil, lower for natural gas, and much lower for atomic energy. This letter is an addition to previously published materials, this time focused on studies of cataracts in radiation-exposed populations in Russia. Selection and self-selection bias are of particular significance. Apparently, the self-reporting rate correlates with dose estimates and/or with professional awareness about radiation-related risks among nuclear workers or radiologic technologists, the latter being associated with their work experience/duration and hence with the accumulated dose. Individuals informed of their higher doses would more often seek medical advice and receive more attention from medics. As a result, lens opacities are diagnosed in exposed people earlier than in the general population. This explains dose-effect correlations proven for the incidence of cataracts but not for the frequency of cataract surgeries. Along the same lines, various pathological conditions are more often detected in exposed people. Ideological bias and the trimming of statistics have not been unusual in the Russian medical sciences. It is known that ionizing radiation causes cataracts; however, threshold levels associated with risks are understudied. In particular, thresholds for chronic and fractionated exposures are uncertain and may be underestimated.
From the rich results generated by the combination of psychology and education in universities, it can be seen that the experimental education school that emerged in Europe and the United States in the late 19th century was a purely empirical spirit influenced experimental behavior in education and teaching; He pioneered a scientific educational experimental model, which is a milestone in the development history of education. It first introduces scientific experimental models into educational experiments through psychology, thereby promoting the development of educational experiments towards a scientific and standardized direction. This educational experiment of positivism paradigm, which evolved from the experimental research of psychology, is also the research paradigm advocated by psychological education in colleges and universities after the combination of college psychology and scientific education.
Objective: To evaluate the ponticulus posticus according to the skeletal relationship found in strict lateral radiographs at the Centro Dental Docente of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia during the period 2015–2017, using the classification according to the degree of mineralization described by Selby and Steiner’s skeletal relationship classification. Material and methods: It was performed on digital strict lateral radiographs using a 20-inch screen using the SIDEXIS XG program, observing the degree of mineralization of the ponticulus posticus: without evidence of the bony spicule over the vertebral artery = absent bridge, when spicule formation and/or calcification was noted or evident in the middle of the bridge or incompletely = partial bridge, when the bony arch was evident finished visualizing = complete bridge and the classification of the skeletal relationship by measuring the ANB angle: Class I = 0–4°; Class II = >4° and Class III = <0°: the statistical analysis was done with the SPSS V program.22.0 for Windows using the Chi-square tests. Results: Of the 925 digital strict lateral radiographs evaluated, 283 radiographs were found to present ponticulus posticus and the highest frequency was found in the absent type (69.4%), the partial type (17.1%) and the complete type (13.5%). The ponticulus posticus was present in 25.1% of the female and 38.4% of the male. The skeletal relationship associated with ponticulus posticus was present in Class II (19.1%), Class I (10.4%) and Class III (1.1%). Conclusions: The ponticulus posticus is an anatomical variant present in 30.6% of cases. No statistically significant difference was found between the presence of ponticulus posticus and skeletal relationship or sex.
Based on the density-functional theory (DFT) combined with nonequilibrium Green’s function (NGF), this paper investigates the effects of either single aluminum (Al) or single phosphorus (P) atom substitutions at different edge positions of zigzag-edged silicene nanoribbons (ZGNRs) in the ferromagnetic state on the spin-dependent transport properties and spin thermoelectric effects. It has been found that the spin polarization at the Fermi level can reach 100% or –100% in the doped ZSiNRs. Meanwhile, the spin-up Seebeck effect (for –100% case) and spin-down Seebeck effect (for 100% case) are also enhanced. Moreover, the spin Seebeck coefficient is much larger than the corresponding charge Seebeck coefficient at a special doping position and electron energy. Therefore, the study shows that the Al or P doped ZSiNRs can be used to prepare the ideal thermospin devices.
Energy systems face serious difficulties due to economic policy uncertainty, which affects consumption trends and makes the shift to sustainability more difficult. While adjusting for economic growth and carbon emissions, this study examines the dynamic relationship between economic policy uncertainty and energy consumption (including renewable and nonrenewable) in China from 1985Q1 to 2023Q4. The research reveals the frequency-specific and time-varying relationships between these variables by employing sophisticated techniques such as Wavelet Cross-Quantile Correlation (WCQC) and Partial WCQC (PWCQC). Economic policy uncertainty and energy consumption do not significantly correlate in the short term; however, over the long term, economic policy uncertainty positively correlates with renewable energy consumption at medium-to-upper quantiles, indicating that it may play a role in encouraging investments in sustainable energy. On the other hand, EPU has a negative correlation with nonrenewable energy usage at lower quantiles, indicating a slow move away from fossil fuels. These results are confirmed by robustness testing with Spearman-based WCQC techniques. The study ends with policy recommendations to maximize economic policy uncertainty’s long-term impacts on renewable energy, reduce dependency on fossil fuels, and attain environmental and energy sustainability in China.
