This review paper delves into the intricate landscape of the digital economy, focusing on the multifaceted interplay between innovation, competition, and consumer dynamics. It investigates the transformative impact of digital technologies on market structures and consumer behaviors, spanning areas such as e-commerce, online publishing, taxation, and big data challenges. By analyzing network effects, market concentration, and the influence of key players like Google and Amazon, this study draws on insights from previous research. Furthermore, it examines evolving regulations with an emphasis on consumer protection, competition law, and privacy concerns. Through a comprehensive exploration of the digital ecosystem, this paper offers a nuanced understanding of how businesses, consumers, and policymakers navigate the complexities of the digital marketplace.
One of the main concerns in computer science today is integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) into manufacturing processes. This trend could influence a country’s strategy and policy development regarding technological infrastructure. However, despite extensive research on the implementation of IoT in manufacturing, no study has yet focused on the growing research interest in this topic. Based on 2487 papers indexed in the Scopus database between 2013 and 2023, this bibliometric review examines current trends and patterns in IoT research in manufacturing. The literature was selected and screened using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines. Data visualization was created using VOSviewer. The results show a notable increase in research papers centered around IoT in manufacturing. The findings reveal patterns and trends in IoT research publications in the manufacturing sector, author collaboration networks, country collaboration networks, and both established and newly trending topics surrounding IoT in the manufacturing industry.
In recent years, environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues have emerged as a significant area of focus for companies. Furthermore, the international trend is reinforced by the emergence of relevant regulations and the obligation to prepare sustainability reports in leading economies and in the European Union. The impact of ESG and its constituent elements (environmental, social, and governance) on financial performance has been the subject of extensive investigation, with the majority of studies documenting a positive correlation. This evidence substantiates the assertion that sustainability initiatives can yield financial benefits. Concurrently, research has accorded much less attention to the impact of ESG performance on brand value, which can be identified as an indicator of consumer perception. This study, based on data from 26 global corporations between 2012 and 2021, demonstrates that efforts in the areas of environmental and social responsibility have a positive impact on consumer perception, which translates into increased brand value. Nevertheless, such a relationship was not found in case of the governance component.
This study highlights the importance of social capital within third sector organizations, as in other sectors of the economy, and confirms the influence of social capital on human capital. In this case, it contributes to the analysis of the structure and quality of relationships among members of a social organization, which enables motivation and commitment to collective action. Based on exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, from a 45-item survey applied to 190 workers in social organizations; the constructs were reconfigured for the construction of the model of organizational social capital, was carried out using the structural equation methodology. It is argued that the cognitive and structural dimensions of social capital affect its relational dimension in terms of identification, trust and cooperation, which in turn influences worker motivation and other key aspects of human capital. The relational dimension, measured by workers’ identification, trust, and cooperation, has significant effects on their motivation and work engagement, which leads to important practical considerations for human resource policies in these organizations. The article contributes to the existing literature on human capital management by exploring the perception of workers in nonprofit organizations that are part of Ecuador’s third sector.
Objective: Sleep-wake disorders is a common disease in children and adolescents. In recent years, there has been an increasing number of studies on the intervention of exercise therapy in sleep-wake disorders. This study aims to systematically review the development status, research frontiers, research hotspots and development trends of exercise therapy in the through bibliometric methods. Methods: The data comes from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Select all the original data from the establishment of the database to 26 April 2024. Summarize the external characteristics of the literature through Web of Science, Use Excel 2021, Origin 2021, VOS viewers 1.6.20 and Cite Space 6.3.R1 to visually analyze countries/regions, institutions, journals, authors, co-cited references and co-occurrence keywords, use the bibliometric online analysis platform (https://bibliometric.com/) to analyze the changes of keywords and extended keywords over the years. Results: We received a total of 775 publications. The works were sourced from 1429 institutions in 75 countries/regions, published in 113 journals, and written by 4332 authors. The number of publications peaked in 2012, 2018, 2019 and 2021 respectively. In the United States, Harvard University and Children (Basel) have the highest number of publications in this field. The analysis of co-cited references shows that there are three main research frontiers in this field, including 24-hour exercise behavior guidelines for children and adolescents, COVID-19 lockdown and cardiometabolic risk. Screen time, mental health, validity, depression, guidelines, stress, and mediterranean diet are still the current research hotspots in the field, and may become potential research hotspots in the future. Conclusion: The development of research in the field of exercise therapy for children and adolescents with sleep-wake disorders is relatively slow, and there is still a lack of cross-regional scientific research collaborations between countries/regions, institutions and individuals. Our research suggests that it may be a worthwhile research direction to promote the establishment of healthy lifestyle behaviors in the gathering environment of children and adolescents, formulate targeted policies for disease prevention, diagnosis and management, strictly implement preventive measures, improve the level of diagnosis, and dig deep into the precise treatment plan of diseases.
This study evaluates the sustainability and ethical practices of Kerry Logistics Network Limited (KLN), a prominent logistics service provider headquartered in Hong Kong. Using normative ethical theories, stakeholder analysis, and the Circle of Sustainability framework, this research examines KLN’s alignment with global sustainability standards, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The findings reveal that KLN has achieved significant milestones in environmental management, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 11% from 2021 to 2022 through the deployment of electric trucks and incorporating renewable energy in warehouse operations. KLN has also enhanced social responsibility and governance practices by implementing fair labor policies and establishing a rigorous code of conduct, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines across its supply chain. However, the study identifies areas for improvement, including biodiversity actions, battery recycling processes, and transparency in stakeholder engagement. Emphasizing the importance of third-party validation, this paper underscores KLN’s leadership in the logistics industry and provides insights for other companies aiming to improve sustainability performance through comprehensive, verifiable practices.
