The mining issue’s real-world impact is directly linked to the insufficient policing efforts by relevant institutions, potentially affecting the credibility of law enforcement agencies and regional performance. This research project sought to evaluate policing performance related to mining activities in Indonesian regional areas. Using an indexing method, a composite index was developed based on supervision, partnership, and law enforcement aspects. This index functioned as a representation of policing within the mining and quarrying context. The evaluation was carried out in Indonesian provinces with active mining and quarrying operations. The composite index was then juxtaposed with regional gross domestic products to gauge the correlation between policing and regional economic performance. Results revealed that regions heavily reliant on mining for regional GDP, like East Kalimantan, South Sumatera, and Papua, tended to have lower policing indices due to shortcomings in supervision and law enforcement. Conversely, regions with stronger policing indices typically excelled in the supervisory dimension, as seen in Yogyakarta. The study suggests that engaging with communities and increasing the ratio of mine inspectors to mine areas can enhance mining governance and regional competitiveness. Boosting the number of mine inspectors in specific areas can also positively impact overall policing activities within mining regions.
Given the importance of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in stimulating stock market development, many researchers have investigated their influences on the developed markets and high-income economies. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of ICT diffusion on stock market development for a panel of 17 selected emerging countries over the period 1990–2020 and employed the system-generalized method of moments (S-GMM) to test its objective. Three stock market development indicators are also used, namely: stock market capitalization (SMC), stock market total value traded (SMTT), and stock market turnover (SMT). Three ICT indicators are also employed, namely: Fixed telephone subscriptions (FTS), Individuals using the Internet (IUI), and Mobile cellular subscriptions (MCS). Three financial development indicators (deposit money among bank assets (DMB), liquid liabilities (LLB), and private credit by deposit money bank (PCM)) were employed as control variables. In its findings, all selected ICT dynamics positively affect stock market development and its constituents. Secondly, no proof was confirmed in relation to the impact of fixed telephone and stock market development with its elements. Thirdly, evidence of a positive relationship is sparingly apparent in financial development and its components. Fourthly, compared with fixed telephone, internet users more positively and significantly affect stock market development indicators. Policy implications are discussed.
Climate change has adverse effects on ecosystems and several socio-economic sectors including health. Indeed, infrastructure, continuity of medical services, and the hospital environment are all directly affected by the effects of climate-related risks. This study aims to describe the observations of the effects of climate change risks on health systems in the Greater Lomé health region of Togo. We used an interview guide and a questionnaire to collect information. The observations allowed us to assess the effects caused by climate risks. According to the results, 84.62% of respondents attest that health centers experience flooding during rainy periods and damage caused by strong winds is noticeable among 76.92% of respondents. More than 25.40% and 61.86% respectively of respondents mention that droughts and floods have effects on health systems. The results of this study will allow health system managers to become aware of how to plan useful actions to facilitate the management of climate-related risks in health facilities in the Greater Lomé health region. In view of all these results, it is necessary that measures be taken to strengthen the resilience of health systems through awareness campaigns and training of actors throughout the health pyramid.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the innovative research on the instructional design and development of courses based on digital platforms. Firstly, the importance of digital platforms in the field of education and the current status of their application are introduced. Secondly, the concepts and key elements of course instructional design and development are analysed, and the role of digital platforms in course instructional design and development is discussed. Then, the innovative practices and methods of course instructional design and development based on digital platforms are described, including the integration and personalised customisation of learning resources, the construction and interactive communication of learning communities, and the improvement of evaluation and feedback.
