The role of technology in stimulating economic growth needs to be reexamined considering current heightened economic conditions of Asian developing Economies. This study conducts a comparative analysis of technology proxied by R&D expenditures alongside macroeconomic variables crucial for economic growth. Monthly time-series data from 1990 to 2019 were analyzed using a vector error correction model (VECM), revealing a significant impact of technology on the economic growth of India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. However, in the cases of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Bangladesh, macroeconomic indicators were found more crucial to their economic growth. Results of Granger causality underlined the relationship of R&D expenditures and macroeconomic variables with GDP growth rates. Sensitivity analyses endorsed robustness of the results which highlighted the significance and originality of this study in economic growth aligned with sustainable development goals (SDGs) for developing countries.
This study investigated the impact of social media on purchasing decision-making using data from a questionnaire survey of 257 randomly sampled students from the College of Business at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University. The study items were selected from the study community through a random sample, where several (257) students were surveyed. To achieve its objectives, the study follows the descriptive analytical approach in addressing its topic. The questionnaire was adopted as a tool for collecting data. The questionnaire collected data on the independent variable social media—and the dimensions of the dependent variables representing the stages of purchasing decision-making: Feeling the need for the advertised goods, collecting information about alternatives, evaluating available options, buying decisions, and post-purchase evaluation of the purchase decision. Then, the data were analyzed based on regression analysis using SPSS and AMOS. The important findings are summarized below: Social media use is directly related to feeling the need for and searching for information on advertised goods. Social communication and the evaluation of alternatives to advertised goods, in addition to the existence of a moral effect and a direct correlation between social media use and making the purchasing decision for advertised goods. Providing honest, sufficient, and accurate information via social media to the buyer can help them make the purchasing decision.
This study examines the challenges and needs faced by non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Colombia regarding the adopting of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly focusing on sections 3 and 4. Employing a mixed-method approach, the research combines qualitative and quantitative methods. Surveys were conducted with Colombia NPOs, official documents were analysed, and comparative case studies were performed. In-depth interviews and participant observation were also utilised to gain a comprehensive understanding of the obstacles and current practices within the Colombian context. The findings reveal that NPOs in Colombia encounter significant difficulties in adopting IFRS due to the complexity of the standards, lack of specialised resources, and the need for specific training. Internal challenges such as deficiencies in staff qualifications and training, resistance to change, and technological limitations were identified. Externally, ambiguities in the legal framework and donor requirements were highlighted. The case study illustrated that, while there are similarities between IFRS for SMEs and the IFR4NPO project, specific adaptations are essential to address the unique needs of NPOs. This research underscores the necessity of developing additional guidelines or modifying existing ones to enhance the interpretation and application of IFRS in Colombia NPOs. It is recommended to implement proactive strategies based on education and legislative reform to improve the transparency and comparability of financial information. Adopting a more tailored and supported accounting framework will facilitate a more relevant and sustainable implementation, benefiting Colombian NPOs in their resource management and accountability efforts.
The financial services industry is experiencing a swift adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for a variety of applications. These technologies can be employed by both public and private sector entities to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, monitor activities, evaluate data accuracy, and identify instances of fraudulent behavior. The utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) has the potential to provide novel and unforeseen manifestations of interconnectivity within financial markets and institutions. This can be represented by the adoption of previously disparate data sources by diverse institutions. The researchers employed convenience sampling as the sampling method. The form was filled out over the period spanning from July 2023 to February 2024, and it was designed to be both anonymous and accessible through online and offline platforms. To assess the reliability and validity of the measurement scales and evaluate the structural model, we employed Partial Least Squares (PLS) for model validation. Specifically, we have used the software package Smart-PLS 3 with a bootstrapping of 5000 samples to estimate the significance of the parameters. The results indicate a positive and direct connection between artificial intelligence (AI) and either financial services or financial institutions. On the contrary, machine learning (ML) exhibits a strong and positive association among financial services and financial institutions. Similarly, there exists a positive and direct connection between AI and investors, as well as between ML and investors.
The purpose of this study is to explore new financial product’s impact on the behaviour of individual investors. To analyze investors’ risk and return expectations, this article investigates trading volumes before and after the introduction of financial product innovation. An event research technique was used to gather data from the National Stock Exchange. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Sharpe ratio approach, which were provided by different investors. The research results highlight that individual investors’ overreaction behaviour is brought out by financial product innovation. Furthermore, the study’s results imply that rising trading volumes are not entirely explained by updated risk-adjusted returns and that new financial products lead to excessive trading by investors and lowering returns. Higher trading volumes are not explained by better risk-adjusted returns. Young investors often respond irrationally to information offered by financial advisors, resulting in short-term gains at the expense of long-term gains. The study demonstrates that the development of innovative financial products does not always result in investors’ long-term prosperity. Worse outcomes and excessive trading could follow from it. The paper concludes by providing various real-world implications that the benefits and drawbacks of innovative financial products should be spelled out in detail by financial institutions and representatives. his research contributes to the implementation of individual investors’ overreaction behaviour that is brought out by financial product innovation. It highlights that higher trading volumes are not explained by better risk-adjusted returns.
