Over 90% of cancer-related mortality worldwide is due to metastatic disease since the dynamic tumor microenvironment poses huge challenges in preventing the spread of metastatic cancer. Introducing the advent of advance biomaterials and their swift evolution, this review highlights the great potential of innovative biomaterials to proficiently tackle the metastatic tumor environment. Focusing on four distinct categories of biomaterials systems, action mechanism of biomaterials utilized in anti-tumor therapy is explained in detail: 1. Nanoplatforms sensitive to biochemical cues including pH, redox, and enzymes are known as stimuli-responsive nanoplatforms that react according their environment, 2. Smart nanoplatforms changing their morphology to penetrate impermeable physical barriers at tumor site, 3. Ingenious biomaterial participating in tumor normalization, and 4. Nanoplatforms with real-time theranostic capabilities due to innate feedback-loop mechanism. Ingeniously structured biomaterials with extensive evidence in preclinical efficacy encourage their inclusion in metastatic tumor therapy however, their utilization in medical settings is prevented due to various challenges; impractical manufacturing cost, regulatory and safety issues as well as large-scale production are major challenges restraining their widespread use. A concrete framework is proposed in this review to accelerate the biomaterial structure standardization process, following the GMP and other regulatory guidelines with the aim of implementing biomaterial-based tumor diagnostics and therapies. Since incorporating advancing technologies in tumor therapy such AI-driven, autonomous biomaterial structure or patient-specific tumor models would enable confront the proliferating metastatic tumor cases.
Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a benign osteoblastic tumor of bone that usually affects children and young adults. They are usually located on metaphysis or diaphysis of long bones. Their clinical, anamnesis and radiological findings are typical. Intra-articular OO however has different properties due to its placement within joints. Sclerosis around the lesion is either minimal or non-existent, but synovitis can be seen in the joint. For this reason, they are usually diagnosed later. In this case series, we diagnosed three cases (2 ankles and 1 hip joint) that were diagnosed with osteochondral lesions previously and had in chronic pain which did not respond to several treatments in different centers with intra-articular OO and treated them with radiofrequency ablation using computerized tomography. Knowing the radiological properties of intra-articular OO and being aware of this condition during differential diagnosis of joint pain cases will be useful to diagnose this rare pathology.
The goal of the project is to investigate and discover tree species abundant in the Mekong Delta Vietnam, and find out species to develop land in southern coastal of Vietnam and based on research to applicated for food and medicinal on part of forest trees. Mekong Delta a amount of alluvium sediments flows from upstream China to Vietnam by the river branches, then get out the Sea. This sediments accumulated gradually elevation the new land. The coastal where mangrove forests with a rich ecosystem of plants and animals. Over time, these forests change, with different plant species succeeding each other. This aims of this study to finding plant species, classification of forest types based on ecological regions, assessement the biodiversity of tree species, and compare the abundance communities, measuring the growth of the forest in these regions. In 2023, a comprehensive survey was conducted by using a systematic approach. Research content and methods. The content is to investigate the situation of woody plant species in mangrove forests in sub-regions with different ecological characteristics. The number of survey plots have done depend on the density of the forest, Base on the width of the forest range, the number of survey plots in sub region set up from 10 to 15 plots. In total, 68 plots have done established in the erea, the area of plot is 100 square meters (10 m x 10 m). Using the statistical software in forestry to survey and analysis data. The results of research is to find the number of species in each ecological region and growth situation, in which the important thing is to evaluate the adaptation of species in each sub-region to propose wich species to choose as the main species in aforestation the fastest land on sea. The result provided a complete picture of the tree species composition, distribution, and community structure characteristics in each ecological sub-region. The result of survey showed in the sub-region one is seven species. In the sub region two is eleven species. In the sub region three is eight species. In the region four is ten species. The total species of the mangrove forest in the Western Mekong Delta have 16 species from 11 plant families have been identified. Among these species have 6 dominant species include Avicennia oficinali),Avicennia alba, Rhizophora apiculata, Excoecaria agallocha, Someratia caseolaris, and Bruguiera yipamoriza. From the investigation have been found two species grow on the best on new land were Avicennia officinalis and Avicennia alba this findings show they can develope on the original new land for the shore of the Western Mekong Delta. The survey results also calculated the average of the height, diameter (D1.3), canopy, health of the nature mangrove tree for each sub region and total region. From these results showed the division of foresty structure, the structure of height, diameter (D1.3), canopy, heathy of the sub region and total region in the Western Mekong Delta. Suggestions after discovering during the investigation that there are Avicennia officinalis and Avicennia alba are two species that can implement development plants to expand natural land by planting on suitable sea surface areas for Mekong Delta of Vietnam. In addition, referring to research documents on these adapted species can exploit food and medicinal herbs in discovering the level biodiversity distribution abundance of these species. This finding can help Vietnam by mearsures using the species Aviecennia be discovered will promote sea reclamation faster instead of letting the natural law of sea reclamation follow.
Climate change is one of the most critical global challenges, driven primarily by the rapid increase in greenhouse gas concentrations. Carbon sequestration, the process by which ecosystems capture and store carbon, plays a key role in mitigating climate change. This study investigates the factors influencing carbon sequestration in subtropical planted forest ecosystems. Field data were collected from 100 randomly sampled plots of varying sizes (20 m² × 20 m² for trees, 5 m² × 5 m² for shrubs, and 1 m² × 1 m² for herbs) between February and April 2022. A total of 3,440 plants representing 36 species were recorded, with Prosopis juliflora and Prosopis cineraria as the dominant tree species and Desmostachya bipinnata as the dominant herb. Regression analysis, Pearson correlation, and structural equation modeling were performed using R software to explore relationships between carbon sequestration and various biotic and abiotic factors. Biotic factors such as diameter at breast height (DBH; R=0.94), tree height (R=0.83), and crown area (R=0.98) showed strong positive correlations with carbon sequestration. Abiotic factors like litter (R=0.37), humus depth (R=0.43), and electrical conductivity (E.C; R=0.11) also positively influenced carbon storage. Conversely, pH (R=-0.058), total dissolved solids (TDS; R=-0.067), organic matter (R=-0.1), and nitrogen (R=-0.096) negatively impacted carbon sequestration. The findings highlight that both biotic and abiotic factors significantly influence carbon sequestration in planted forests. To enhance carbon storage and mitigate climate change, efforts such as afforestation, reforestation, and conservation of subtropical forest ecosystems are essential.
In response to the prevailing energy crisis, this research focuses on elevating the potential of lithium niobate (LN) thin films for advanced optoelectronic applications. Employing electron beam evaporation, films undergo precise annealing (700°C to 1100°C), revealing a structural evolution through X-ray diffraction—crystallite sizes transition from 69.34 nm (unannealed) to 47.90 nm (1100°C). Scanning electron microscopy captures the transformation from coarse grains to photonic crystal clusters, while energy dispersion X-ray analysis discloses LN's composition (97.27 wt.% oxygen, 2.73 wt.% niobium). Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy illustrates surface damage post-Helium ion implantation, proportionate to depth. UV-VIS spectrophotometry highlights a significant blue shift in the optical band gap (3.70 eV to 2.52 eV), with further reduction at 700°C (2.48 eV) and a climactic shift at 1100°C (2.68 eV). This study not only addresses the pressing energy crisis but also emphasizes the indispensable role of lithium niobate in shaping the future of optoelectronics. It provides insights into tailoring LN properties for sustainable advancements in optoelectronic devices, marking a crucial chapter in our collective journey towards energy resilience. The urgency of innovation in the face of global challenges is underscored, marking a crucial chapter in our collective journey towards energy resilience.
The effective drainage radius of coal seam is an important basis for the spacing of pre-drainage gas boreholes. To quickly and accurately determine the effective drainage radius, a new method was proposed. For the coal face where the desorbable gas content before mining has met the standard, the compliance of mine gas drainage rate was used as the basis to determine the effective drainage radius. The fluid-structure interaction model was constructed, numerical simulation of coal seam gas drainage was carried out by using COMSOL software, and the model was validated by combining the field test results. The results show that the new method has the advantage of short cycle. With the extension of drainage time, the increase of effective drainage radius gradually decreases, and finally reaches a relatively stable limit value, which conforms to the Langmuir function. The average error between numerical simulation and field test values of effective drainage radius is 4.9%, which proves that the model is reliable. This model can accurately predict the effective drainage radius under different coal seam gas contents and drainage times. The research results provide a new mean for determining the effective drainage radius of coal seam and the layout of gas drainage boreholes.
