With the implementation of the 2022 version of the New Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education Chinese (referred to as the Curriculum Standards hereafter), the focus on core literacy has become a central concern and inevitable trend in Chinese language teach_x005fing research. This paper, starting from the practical aspects of Chinese language learning in the fifth and sixth grades of primary school, investigates the language sensibility of upper-level students. Based on the findings regarding the sensibility status, it identifies a series of issues such as inappropriate methods and insufficient attention in the cultivation process and proposes specific strategies to address the current state of students’ language sensibility.
