With the in-depth development and widespread application of educational informatization, digital education has also become one of the important features of educational modernization. Designing and completing a visual teaching system based on Web technology is of great significance for promoting further reform and development of teaching, especially for achieving remote education, which has great application value. Based on visual teaching needs analysis and B/S architecture, effective system development is achieved through Access database. According to the specific needs of teaching functions, the system can be divided into multiple modules, and the management and login of teaching resources for users can also be smoothly achieved. This has important research value for achieving the goal of remote visualization of teaching.
Distance education (DE) has recently become a noteworthy study topic in the public education system. From the Web of Science database, 5719 articles discussing DE and published in the period of 2011–2023 were acquired. By analyzing the overall characteristics, co-citation, and keyword co-occurrence of the selected articles, which utilized Cite Space software, the history of DE could be systematically grasped, thereby reasonably predict the emphases of future development. We found that the number of papers relevant to DE had been rapidly growing since 2018. USA, China, and Turkey are the top three countries where most authors or teams were located. The map of keyword cooccurrence showed that the previous DE research mainly focused on telelearning, adult learning, and distributed learning environment. The recent burst words emerging are used to determine that distance education will continue to be studied in the field with high explosive keywords such as visual tracking, technology acceptance model, and user interface. This will provide suggestions and directions for the development of distance education.
This study employed a qualitative approach to examine tertiary students’ perspectives on leveraging Social Studies in the fight against corruption in Ghana. A purposive sampling technique was used to select 21 students from a distance training institution. Some of the variables investigated were causes of corruption and the extent to which students perceived Social Studies as a potential force to combat corruption. The semi-structured interview guide was used to collect data from research participants while thematic analysis was adopted. Data from the study revealed that corruption in Ghana is caused by factors such as weak institutions, greed, poverty-related issues and cultural practices. The results also indicated that Social Studies could significantly help curb corruption. Beside Social Studies, other measures including strengthening institutions, meting out severe punishment to culprits and moral education can also reduce corruption. It was, therefore, recommended that the Ministry of Education through the Ghana Education Service should retool the Social Studies subject, and make it compulsory at all levels of education since it has the potential to reduce corruption.
