BiVO4 was hydrothermally synthesized under different preparing conditions and characterized by XRD, SEM, Raman spectrum and BET specific surface area. The influence of different pH value and annealing temperature and hydrothermal time on the morphologies and structures of the BiVO4 samples was investigated systematically. It can be found that annealing would eliminate the effects caused by the pH of precursor, heating temperature and heating time, but preparing conditions still influenced the size and specific surface area of samples. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activities of the fabricated BiVO4 were also evaluated by the degradation of methyl blue in aqueous solution under UV and visible light irradiation.
In this review are developed insights from the current research work to develop the concept of functional materials. This is understood as real modified substrates for varied applications. So, functional and modified substrates focused on nanoarchitectures, microcapsules, and devices for new nanotechnologies highlighting life sciences applications were revised. In this context, different types of concepts to proofs of concepts of new materials are shown to develop desired functions. Thus, it was shown that varied chemicals, emitters, pharmacophores, and controlled nano-chemistry were used for the design of nanoplatforms to further increase the sizes of materials. In this regard, the prototyping of materials was discussed, affording how to afford the challenge in the design and fabrication of new materials. Thus, the concept of optical active materials and the generation of a targeted signal through the substrate were developed. Moreover, advanced concepts were introduced, such as the multimodal energy approach by tuning optical coupling from molecules to the nanoscale within complex matter composites. These approaches were based on the confinement of specific optical matter, considering molecular spectroscopics and nano-optics, from where the new concept nominated as metamaterials was generated. In this manner, fundamental and applied research by the design of hierarchical bottom-up materials, controlling molecules towards nanoplatforms and modified substrates, was proposed. Therefore, varied accurate length scales and dimensions were controlled. Finally, it showed proofs of concepts and applications of implantable, portable, and wearable devices from cutting-edge knowledge to the next generation of devices and miniaturized instrumentation.
The main long-term goal of international communities is to achieve sustainable development. This issue is currently highly topical in most European Union (EU) countries due to the ongoing energy crisis. Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), which can be integrated into the building surface (roof or facade), thereby replacing conventional building materials, contributes significantly to achieving zero net energy buildings. However, fire safety is important when using BIPV as a structural system in buildings, and it is essential that the application of BIPV as building facades and roofs does not adversely affect the safety of the buildings, their occupants, or the responding firefighters. As multifunctional products, BIPV modules must meet fire safety requirements in the field of electrical engineering as well as in the construction industry. In terms of building regulations, the fire safety requirements of the BIPV must comply with national building regulations. Within this article, aspects and fire hazards associated with BIPV system installations will be defined, including proposals for installation and material requirements that can help meet fire safety.
This research examines three data mining approaches employing cost management datasets from 391 Thai contractor companies to investigate the predictive modeling of construction project failure with nine parameters. Artificial neural networks, naive bayes, and decision trees with attribute selection are some of the algorithms that were explored. In comparison to artificial neural network’s (91.33%) and naive bays’ (70.01%) accuracy rates, the decision trees with attribute selection demonstrated greater classification efficiency, registering an accuracy of 98.14%. Finally, the nine parameters include: 1) planning according to the current situation; 2) the company’s cost management strategy; 3) control and coordination from employees at different levels of the organization to survive on the basis of various uncertainties; 4) the importance of labor management factors; 5) the general status of the company, which has a significant effect on the project success; 6) the cost of procurement of the field office location; 7) the operational constraints and long-term safe work procedures; 8) the implementation of the construction system system piece by piece, using prefabricated parts; 9) dealing with the COVID-19 crisis, which is crucial for preventing project failure. The results show how advanced data mining approaches can improve cost estimation and prevent project failure, as well as how computational methods can enhance sustainability in the building industry. Although the results are encouraging, they also highlight issues including data asymmetry and the potential for overfitting in the decision tree model, necessitating careful consideration.
The Cu2–xSe nanoparticles were synthesized by high temperature pyrolysis, modified with aminated polyethylene glycol in aqueous solution and loaded with compound 2,2′–azobis[2–(2–imidazolin–2–yl)propane] dihydrochloride (AIPH). The obtained nanomaterials can induce photothermal effect and use heat to promote the generation of toxic AIPH radicals under the irradiation of near-infrared laser (808 nm), which can effectively kill cancer cells. A series of in vitro experiments can preliminarily prove that Cu2–xSe–AIPH nanomaterials have strong photothermal conversion ability, good biocompatibility and anticancer properties.
