As a global case, COVID-19 has raised concerns from various circles. To overcome these problems, serious steps are needed, especially from the strategic level that plays an important role in formulating policies. This paper tries to describe the steps taken by the Indonesian government, especially the president as the top leader in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used is qualitative description through references that cover various topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in terms of strategic decision making by government leaders. Adaptive leadership as a leader’s ability to deal with various challenges in the midst of conditions filled with uncertainty is very important. Decisions taken by the Indonesian government are based on various considerations, such as economic, geographical, cultural and sociological. The research findings show that in the implementation, the President of Indonesia has taken various concrete steps that have major implications on different sectors. This ultimately led the country to achieve success in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
As an essential principle in contract law, Indonesia has regulated good faith in the Indonesian Civil Code (the Dutch Civil Code that the Indonesian government uses based on the principle of concordance). However, the definition and benchmarks are not yet clear. There are no further provisions regarding the meaning and concept of this principle in the Indonesian Civil Code or other regulations. This absence of a single understanding of good faith principle in contract causes different opinions and legal certainty, whether from the business actor who signs the agreement or the judge as the third party who resolves contract disputes between parties. Therefore, future Indonesian contract law needs to regulate the definition and benchmarks for good faith principle. In order to find out the meaning and clear benchmarks for the good faith principle, the authors use a normative juridical method with a statute and conceptual approach. This research finds that the definition and benchmarks for the good faith principle is possible to be developed and regulated in Indonesian contract law. It shall set that good faith principle is based on honesty, decency, and fairness, which covers every agreement stage, from pre-agreement, agreement implementation, and after the agreement is completed.
In Indonesia, the village government organization is part of local democracy. This includes the local democracy in indigenous villages. Indigenous villages have their own customary rules for implementing village elections. They have their own conflict resolution systems in implementing the village government. The implementation of the indigenous village governance leaves conflicts. So, there is a need for a suitable model for resolving problems in the implementation of village elections. The method used in this research is the qualitative research method with the juridical empirical approach. The locus of this research is in the Baduy, Tengger, and Samin indigenous village communities. The conflict resolution model in the administration of the Baduy, Tengger, and Samin customary villages differs in the right mechanism, but in substance, the resolution model is the same, as they use a deliberation model for consensus. In resolving conflicts, indigenous peoples fully submit to traditional leaders. The provincial and the regency/city governments are expected to give greater attention to the conditions of villages with customary government characteristics.
The well-being of society can be realized through meeting basic needs, one of which is providing public infrastructure. This study examines the role of Natural Resource Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH SDA) on government investment in infrastructure in 491 regencies/cities in Indonesia. The testing in this research uses panel data regression analysis. The results show that per capita DBH SDA in Indonesia during the study period of 2010–2012 has a significant and positive influence on government investment in infrastructure. The selection of this period is based on the consideration that a resources boom has occurred, where there is an increased global demand for natural resource commodities followed by an increase in commodity prices, thereby positively impacting revenue for countries or regions abundant in natural resources. Despite DBH SDA having a significant and positive influence, regional spending on infrastructure tends to be more influenced by central government transfers such as General Allocation Fund (DAU), Special Allocation Fund (DAK), and Local Own-source Revenue (PAD). It was found that government investment in infrastructure tends to be influenced by transfer funds, indicating that the role of the central government remains significant in determining the infrastructure expenditure of regencies/cities in Indonesia.
Uncontrolled economic development often leads to land degradation, a decline in ecosystem services, and negative impacts on community welfare. This study employs water yield (WY) modeling as a method for environmental management, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between Land Use Land Cover (LULC), Land Use Intensity (LUI), and WY to support sustainable natural resource management in the Cisadane Watershed, Indonesia. The objectives include: (1) analyzing changes in WY for 2010, 2015, and 2021; (2) predicting WY for 2030 and 2050 under two scenarios—Business as Usual (BAU) and Protected Forest Area (PFA); (3) assessing the impacts of LULC and climate change on WY; and (4) exploring the relationship between LUI and WY. The Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs (InVEST) model calculates actual and predicted WY conditions, while the Coupling Coordination Degree (CCD) analyzes the LULC-WY relationship. Results indicate that the annual WY in 2021 was 215.8 × 108 m³, reflecting a 30.42% increase from 2010. Predictions show an increasing trend in WY under both scenarios for 2030 and 2050 with different magnitudes. Rainfall contributes 88.99% more dominantly to WY than LULC. Additionally, around 50% of districts exhibited unbalanced coordination between LUI and WY in 2010 and 2020. This study reveals the importance of ESs in sustainable watershed management amidst increasing demand for natural resources due to population growth.
Using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), this study investigated the effect of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, facilitating condition, lifestyle compatibility, and perceived trust on both the intention to use and adoption of an e-wallet among adults. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional research technique to collect data from 501 respondents via Google Form. The acquired data was assessed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Therefore, perceived usefulness, perceived simplicity of use, social influence, lifestyle compatibility, and perceived trust all had a strong positive impact on both intentions to use and adoption of an e-wallet. This study demonstrated that the intention to use an e-wallet mediated the links between predictors and e-wallet adoption. Respondents’ age and gender moderated the effect of lifestyle compatibility on their intention to use an e-wallet. The study’s findings can assist managers and policymakers establish successful ways that capture customers’ intention to use and experience with employing an e-wallet amid a tumultuous market. Finally, such well-crafted policies may stimulate the digital platform and web-based apps, as well as raise e-wallet acceptance rates in undeveloped countries.
