The privacy of personal information is aimed at protecting human rights both under the international human rights regime and the Saudi Arabian constitution and other statutes and regulations, subject only to some exceptions that include the protection of public health. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought about certain challenges that necessitate strategies to augment the conventional surveillance of infectious diseases, contact tracing, isolation, reporting and vaccination. Several governments institutions, and agencies presently adopt mobile applications for collecting, analyzing, managing, and sharing critical personal data of individuals infected with or exposed to COVID-19. While the benefits of sharing private information for achieving public health needs may not be disputed, the risk of breach of personal privacy is enormous. This had forced the national governments into a dilemma of either succumbing to public health needs, strictly respecting and protecting the privacy of individuals, or alternatively, balancing the two conflicting demands. There is a massive body of literature on the security and privacy of such mobile applications, but none has adequately explored and discussed public interest justifications under Saudi Arabian laws for alleged privacy breaches. We examined the health surveillance mobile app technologies currently in use in Saudi Arabia with the aim of determining the potential risks of data breaches under extant data protection laws. The paper recommends, among others, that any potential risk of breach to right to privacy of personal information under the law must be (justified by) the public health needs to protect society during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Incest is one of the most serious forms of sexual abuse that occurs between a father and his daughter. It involves a parent committing something forbidden to their own child, which violates moral standards. This incestuous relationship has a significant impact on the survivors’ psychology, body, and emotions, affecting all aspects of their lives. This study explores the long-term effects experienced by individuals in Malaysia who have survived father-daughter incest (FDI). This study conducted in-depth interviews with 11 key persons from several agencies involved in handling FDI cases in Malaysia. The findings reveal that those who experienced FDI frequently suffered long-term issues. It is important for everyone involved in assisting these individuals. This is aligned with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3, which emphasises the value of good health and well-being for all. It also aligns with Malaysia’s MADANI concept, which emphasises protecting and promoting everyone’s human rights. FDI survivors can receive the protection and assistance they require to live healthier and more successful lives by implementing an effective strategy that includes mental health support, powerful laws, and community education.

The electoral campaign that led Trump to win the presidential election focused on attacking the elites and using nationalist rhetoric, highlighting issues such as illegal immigration and economic globalization. Once in power, his trade policies, based on perceptions of unfair competition with countries like China, resulted in the imposition of high tariffs on key products. These measures were justified as necessary to protect domestic industries and jobs, although they triggered trade wars at the international level. This article examines the economic consequences of the protectionist policies implemented by the United States under the Trump administration. The protection of less competitive sectors aims to reduce imports, negatively affecting production and income in exporting countries, and limiting U.S. exports to these markets. Although some countries have experienced an increase in real income due to trade diversion, overall, income fluctuations have been negative.
Fujian Tubao, a defensive residential structure predominantly found in central Fujian, represents a significant cultural heritage of the region. However, with the rapid urbanization underway, Fujian Tubao faces the threat of extinction, presenting severe challenges to its survival and development. Identifying a sustainable development path for Fujian Tubao is crucial for preserving regional culture. This study uses Fuxing Bao, a quintessential example of Fujian Tubao, as a case study to explore conservation methods based on adaptive reuse. Through field surveys, questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and case studies, we analyze the historical background of the building, focusing on the current physical and social environment of Fuxing Bao. Our findings indicate that the current state of preservation of Fuxing Bao can meet the requirements for adaptive reuse. By integrating results from surveys and interviews with local villagers, we propose sustainable development strategies and conservation methods. This research offers a sustainable development model for Fujian Tubao and other traditional regional dwellings. By adopting an adaptive reuse perspective, it aims to better address the conflict between modern living and traditional architectural preservation, ensuring that these architectural spaces are properly protected and continue to play a unique role in contemporary society.
This study was conducted to comprehensively explore personal assistants for people with disabilities experiences and the current status of client behavioral issues during vocational activities, aiming to seek strategies for advancing worker health protection. The study included 8 participants (Personal assistants for people with disabilities) selected through voluntary convenience sampling method. Qualitative research methods, specifically in-depth interviews, were conducted from August 31 to September 1, 2023. The study categorized client behavioral issues into ‘unreasonable demands,’ ‘verbal and physical abuse,’ and ‘sexual harassment,’ causing stress among workers. Fear of unemployment and job change hindered emotional expression, leading to significant emotional exhaustion and job stress. Furthermore, it was revealed that there are no management policies, management departments, or management systems within the institution to address client problem behavior. To address these issues, the study suggests the establishment of emotional labor management systems and support structures. Furthermore, it emphasizes the need for systematic internal systems and the development of health protection manuals for client interaction.
