Acute abdomen is a frequent clinical picture in emergency diagnostics. Pathologic changes of the female genital organs play an important role. Gynecologic emergencies threaten fertility and are potentially life-threatening. Many differential diagnoses must be considered in the diagnostic process, depending on the age of the patient and any pregnancy. In particular, acute gastrointestinal symptoms often cannot be differentiated from gynecologic emergencies on clinical examination. Here, imaging makes a significant contribution to narrowing the differential diagnosis, making treatment decisions, and monitoring therapy. This review article will discuss the central role of imaging in the context of common gynecologic emergencies.
Shore line change is considered as one of the most dynamic processes, which were mapped along the coast of Tiruvallur district by using topographic maps of 1976 and multi-temporal satellite images. The satellite images pertaining to 1988, 1991, 2006, 2010, 2013 and 2016 were used to extract the shorelines. It is important to map and monitor the HTL (High Tide Line) at frequent time intervals as the shoreline was demarcated by using visual interpretation technique from satellite images and topographic maps. Followed by this, an overlay analysis was performed to calculate areas of erosion and accretion in the study area. The results revealed that the coast of Tiruvallur district lost 603 ha and gained 630 ha due to erosion and accretion respectively. It was confirmed after the ground truth survey carried out in the study area. The high accretion of 178 ha was found nearby Pulicat Lake and low accretion of 19 ha was seen between Pulicat Lake and Kattupali Port. The high erosion area was found along the Pulicat Lake, Kattupali and Ennore ports, and Ennore creek mouth and southern Ennore such as Periya Kuppam, Chinna Kuppam, Kasi Koil Kuppam, and Thyagarajapuram. It may be concluded that the coastal erosion and accretion in the study area were mainly caused by anthropogenic and natural factors, which altered the coastal environment.
In this study, the influence of sewage sludge ash (SSA) waste particle contents on the mechanical properties and interlaminar fracture toughness for mode I and mode II delamination of S-glass fiber-reinforced epoxy composites was investigated. Composite laminate specimens for tensile, flexural double-cantilever beam (DCB), and end-notched fracture (ENF) tests were prepared and tested according to ASTM standards with 5, 10, 15, and 20 wt% SSA-filled S-glass/epoxy composites. Property improvement reasons were explained based on optical and scanning electron microscopy. The highest improvement in tensile and flexural strength was obtained with a 10 wt% content of SSA. The highest mode I and mode II interlaminar fracture toughness’s were obtained with 15 wt% content of SSA. The mode I and mode II interlaminar fracture toughness improved by 33% and 63.6%, respectively, compared to the composite without SSA.
The nylon 66/nano-CaCO3 composites were prepared by melt blending on a twin-screw extruder. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), polarized light microscopy (PLM), thermal loss (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) The effects of nanometer calcium carbonate on the polycrystalline behavior and thermal properties of nylon 66/nano CaCO3 composites were investigated. The results show that the nanometer calcium carbonate particles are dispersed in the nylon 66 matrix and exist in the form of aggregates. The nanometer calcium carbonate has the effect of heterogeneous nucleation, which can reduce the size of the spherules. The decomposition temperature of the nylon 66 is 400 ℃, the addition of nano-CaCO3 to reduce the decomposition temperature. At the same time, DSC test showed that the β-crystalline form in the material reduced the melting temperature of the material. The addition of nano-CaCO3 in the nylon 66 matrix resulted in the decrease of the crystallization temperature and the increase of the half-height width of the endothermic peak. The lower the crystallization temperature, the wider the crystallization temperature range.
Hospital waste containing antibiotics is toxic to the ecosystem. Ciprofloxacin is one of the essential, widely used antibiotics and is often detected in water bodies and soil. It is vital to treat these medical wastes, which urge new research towards waste management practices in hospital environments themselves. Ultimately minimizes its impact in the ecosystem and prevents the spread of antibiotic resistance. The present study highlights the decomposition of ciprofloxacin using nano-catalytic ZnO materials by reactive oxygen species (ROS) process. The most effective process to treat the residual antibiotics by the photocatalytic degradation mechanism is explored in this paper. The traditional co-precipitation method was used to prepare zinc oxide nanomaterials. The characterization methods, X-Ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Ulraviolet-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Scanning Electron microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) have done to improve the photocatalytic activity of ZnO materials. The mitigation of ciprofloxacin catalyzed by ZnO nano-photocatalyst was described by pseudo-first-order kinetics and chemical oxygen demand (COD) analysis. In addition, ZnO materials help to prevent bacterial species, S. aureus and E. coli, growth in the environment. This work provides some new insights towards ciprofloxacin degradation in efficient ways.
The micro staring hyperspectral imager can simultaneously acquire two spatial and one spectral images, and only record the external orientation elements of the entire hyperspectral image rather than the external orientation elements of each frame of the image, which avoids the geometric instability during scanning, effectively solves the problem of large geometric deformation of the small line scanning hyperspectral imager, and is suitable for the small UAV load platform with unstable attitude. At present, most of the research focuses on the radio-metric correction method of line scan hyperspectral imager. The application time of staring hyperspectral imager is short, and there is no mature data processing re-search at home and abroad, which hinders the application of UAV micro staring hyperspectral imaging system. In this paper, the calibration method of the linearity and variability of the radiation response of the micro staring hyperspectral imager on the UAV is studied, and the effectiveness of this method is quantitatively evaluated. The results show that the hyperspectral image has obvious vignetting effect and strip phenomenon before the correction of radiation response variability. After the correction, the radiation response variation coefficient of pixels in different bands decreases significantly, and the vignetting effect and image strip decrease significantly. In this paper, a multi-target radiometric calibration method is proposed, and the accuracy of radiometric calibration is verified by comparing the calibrated hyperspectral image spectrum with the measured ground object spectrum of the ground spectrometer. The results show that the calibration results of the multi-target radiometric calibration method show better results, especially for the near-infrared band, and the difference with the surface reflectance measured by the spectrometer is small.
