With the requirements of New English Curriculum Standards, English teaching has shifted towards organising content thematically, focusing not only on the transmission of linguistic knowledge but also on the improvement of students' comprehensive quality during language learning. This evolution undoubtedly raises higher demands on English instruction. Unit-based integrated teaching, as an innovative pedagogical model, is characterised by its holistic, interconnected, progressive, and comprehensive features. It can help students to build a correlated knowledge network facilitates the establishment of connections between disparate pieces of knowledge, deepens students' understanding and enhances their retention, improves their overall linguistic competence and learning ability, so as to foster the comprehensive development of core literacy. Therefore, this article takes the teaching of English in compulsory education as an example, and explores and elaborates on the design and implementation path of integrated teaching of English units under the new curriculum standards from four aspects: teaching objectives, teaching content, teaching process, and teaching evaluation, in order to provide reference for promoting integrated teaching of English units in compulsory education.
Every sector must possess the ability to identify potential dangers, assess associated risks, and mitigate them to a controllable extent. The mining industry inherently faces significant hazards due to the intricate nature of its systems, processes, and procedures. Effective risk control management and hazard assessment are essential to identify potential adverse events that might lead to hazards, analyze the processes by which these occurrences may transpire, and estimate the extent, importance, and likelihood of negative consequences. (1) The stage of industrial hazard analysis assesses the capability of a risk assessment process by acknowledging that hidden hazards have the potential to generate dangers that are both unknown and beyond control. (2) To mitigate hazards in mines, it is imperative to identify and assess all potentially dangerous circumstances. (3) Upon conducting an analysis and evaluation of the safety risks associated with identified hazards, the acquired knowledge has the potential to assist mine management in making more informed and effective decisions. (4) Frequently employed methods of data collection include interrogation of victims/witnesses and collection of information directly from the accident site. (5) After conducting a thorough analysis and evaluation of the safety hazards associated with hazard identification, the dataset has the potential to assist mine management in making more informed decisions. The study highlights the critical role of management in promoting a strong safety culture and the need for active participation in health and safety systems. By addressing both feared and unknown risks, educating workers, and utilizing safety-related data more effectively, mining companies can significantly improve their risk management strategies and ensure a safer working environment.
The challenge of rural electrification has become more challenging today than ever before. Grid-connected and off-grid microgrid systems are playing a very important role in this problem. Examining each component’s ideal size, facility system reactions, and other microgrid analyses, this paper proposes the design and implementation of an off-grid hybrid microgrid in Chittagong and Faridpur with various load dispatch strategies. The hybrid microgrids with a load of 23.31 kW and the following five dispatch algorithms have been optimized: (i) load following, (ii) HOMER predictive, (iii) combined dispatch, (iv) generator order, and (v) cycle charging dispatch approach. The proposed microgrids have been optimized to reduce the net present cost, CO2 emissions, and levelized cost of energy. All five dispatch strategies for the two microgrids have been analyzed in HOMER Pro. Power system reactions and feasibility analyses of microgrids have been performed using ETAP simulation software. For both the considered locations, the results propound that load-following is the outperforming approach, which has the lowest energy cost of $0.1728/kWh, operational cost of $2944.13, present cost of $127,528.10, and CO2 emission of 2746 kg/year for the Chittagong microgrid and the lowest energy cost of $0.2030/kWh, operating cost of $3530.34, present cost of 149,287.30, and CO2 emission of 3256 kg/year for the Faridpur microgrid with a steady reaction of the power system.
In older adults with disabilities, muscle weakness reduces mobility and causes postural issues. Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) training is effective for increasing strength by inducing involuntary skeletal muscle contractions. Thus, this study aimed to examine changes in lumbar movement, muscle activity during walking, and maximum muscle strength of lower-limb joints based on an 8-week EMS exercise program for older adults with physical disabilities. Sixteen older adults (aged 56–78 years) with physical disabilities were selected and randomly assigned to either the exercise group (EG, n = 8) or the control group (CG, n = 8). EG participants were instructed to wear EMS suits and participate in an elastic band and bare-body exercise program, whereas CG participants performed the exercise program without the EMS suits. Lumbar range of motion (ROM), body circumference, partial volume, maximum muscle strength, and muscle activity were measured. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 28.0 for Windows, with the critical value of α = 0.05. Compared to CG participants, EG participants had a superior ROM, body volume, partial volume, maximum muscle strength (knee joints), and muscle activity while walking. These positive outcomes highlight the efficacy of combining EMS with an exercise program for strength and rehabilitation training in older adults with physical disabilities.
