This study investigates the impact of various educational and social factors on the digital skills of vocational education and training (VET) students, emphasizing the significance of continuous skill development in the digital age. Utilizing structural equation modeling (SEM), the paper analyzes data from 382 adult VET students in Greece, examining the effects of Erasmus program participation, daily computer use, educational platforms, and social network engagement on digital competencies. The findings reveal that participation in Erasmus programs and the use of educational platforms significantly enhance students’ digital skills, highlighting the value of international experiences and digital learning tools in VET. Conversely, daily computer use alone does not significantly impact digital skills, suggesting that structured and purposeful digital tool integration is essential for skill development. The study also underscores the positive role of social networks in improving content management skills, advocating for their strategic use in educational settings. These results demonstrate the need for targeted digital literacy initiatives within VET programs to prepare students for modern labor market demands. The research contributes to the theoretical understanding of digital skill acquisition and offers practical insights for educators and policymakers to enhance VET curricula, fostering economic and social progress through improved digital literacy.
This study aims to explore the research on Chinese higher education policy from 2005 to 2024 through a bibliometric analysis. It is revealed that a continuous growth trend and sustained academic interest in this field. Mainland China leads in publication quantity, showcasing the active involvement of Chinese scholars in higher education policy research. Institutions like Peking University, the University of Hong Kong, and Beijing Normal University play significant roles in this research domain. The focus of research has shifted from student attitudes to international students, teachers, innovation models, changing demands, and urban education development, reflecting a growing emphasis on sustainability and internationalization. The study highlights the positive development trajectory of Chinese higher education policy research, with expanding research focuses and deepening concerns for sustainability and internationalization.
This study explores the spatial distribution pattern of educational infrastructure development across districts and cities in North Sumatra, identifying significant disparities between urban and rural areas. The study aims to: (1) determine the distribution of educational development across districts and cities, (2) analyze global spatial autocorrelation, and (3) identify priority locations for educational development policies in North Sumatra Province. The methodology includes quantile analysis, Moran’s Global Index, and Local Indicators of Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA) using GeoDa software to address spatial autocorrelation. The results indicate that there are nine areas with a low School Participation Rate Index (SPRI), eleven areas with a low School Facilities and Infrastructure Index (SFII), and eleven areas with a low Regional Education Index (REI). Spatial autocorrelation analysis reveals that SFII shows positive spatial autocorrelation, while SPRI and REI exhibit negative spatial autocorrelation, indicating a high level of inequality between regions. Labuhan Batu Selatan and Labuhan Batu are identified as priorities for the provincial government in overseeing educational development policies.
This paper conducts a bibliometric visual analysis of the application of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in education, using CiteSpace software. Drawing on data from the Web of Science, the study explores research trends and influential works related to UTAUT from 2008 to 2023. It highlights the growing use of educational technologies such as mobile learning and virtual reality tools. The analysis reveals the most cited articles, journals, and key institutions involved in UTAUT research. Furthermore, keyword analysis identifies research hot spots, such as artificial intelligence and behavioral intentions. This study contributes to the understanding of how UTAUT has been used to predict technology adoption in education and provides recommendations for future research directions based on emerging trends in the digital learning environment.
This paper focuses on the analysis of educational institutions’ communication on social media, with an emphasis on the individual type of content used by these institutions to increase engagement and interaction with current and potential students. The authors examine how educational institutions tailor their communication content on Facebook and Instagram to meet the expectations and needs of their target audience. The analysis includes content evaluation, frequency of posts, user interaction, and integration of multimedia elements. In our research we focused on private school segment from kindergartens, through primary to secondary schools. The paper also presents an analysis of the differences of communication on different platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and their impact on the digital communication strategy of private schools. The results suggest that despite the increasing popularity of Instagram and higher interaction, educational institutions are communicating more on Facebook.
