In order to scientifically evaluate the germplasm resources of Momordica charantia in southern China, the diversity, correlation and cluster analysis were carried out on the main botanical characters of 56 Momordica charantia varieties, such as melon length, melon transverse diameter, single melon weight, internode length, stem diameter, leaf length and leaf width. The results showed that the variation coefficients of 7 agronomic characters of 56 Momordica charantia varieties ranged from 8.81% to 19.44%, the average variation coefficient was 14.21%, the maximum variation coefficient of single melon weight was 19.44%, and the minimum variation coefficient of melon cross diameter was 8.81%. The correlation analysis showed that there were correlations among the agronomic traits. The positive correlation coefficient between leaf length and leaf width was up to 0.978, and the negative correlation coefficient between single melon weight and internode length was up to 0.451. The 56 varieties were divided into 3 groups by cluster analysis, of which 92.86% of the materials were concentrated in the first and second groups, and there were only 4 materials in the third group. The results can provide a reference for the cultivation, utilization and genetic improvement of Momordica charantia resources in southern China.
The scarcity of the insulators that are required for refrigeration has made it necessary to use locally available materials that can achieve the desired refrigeration. This work presents the performance evaluation of a refrigerator utilizing a locally available material, which is wood particles that have been converted to particle board, as one of its insulators. A vapor compression refrigeration system was designed and fabricated to chill and preserve agricultural products, which are eggs, yogurt, and tomatoes. The various temperatures at which the agricultural products became chilled were compared with their theoretical preservation temperatures obtainable in literature, thereby evaluating the performance of the refrigerator. The temperature of 11 ℃, which was recorded for the egg in the present experiment, is lower than the theoretical preservation temperatures of 18 ℃ to 21 ℃ for an egg. The temperature of 7 ℃, which was recorded for the yogurt, is approximately equal to its theoretical preservation temperature of 5 ℃. The temperature of 8 ℃, which was recorded for the tomato, is lower than the theoretical preservation temperatures of 7 ℃ to 10 ℃ of tomato. This work has revealed that wood particles have the potential to achieve refrigeration, as well as chill and preserve agricultural products.
This article identifies the role of anti-corruption legislation in sustainable development. The descriptive approach is used to achieve the research objectives, as it is the appropriate scientific method suitable for the nature of the study subject in terms of presenting information related to combating administrative corruption. The results indicate that efforts to combat administrative corruption to achieve sustainable development in countries can only be achieved through strict legislation specialized in combating administrative corruption with the activation of accountability mechanisms in all state departments, bodies, and ministries. The results also demonstrate the alignment of the national and international efforts to reduce the phenomenon of corruption through international agreements and treaties. Towards the end, key conclusions and recommendations are also appropriately incorporated.
This work evaluates the physical and physical-chemical parameters of the strawberry variety “Festival”, obtained in the soil and climate conditions of Humpata, Huila Province, Angola, following the transformation into sweet of adequate quality. The analyses made were: the mass determined on an analytical balance and the transversal and longitudinal diameters with a pachymeter. Other analyses were: total titratable acidity by volumetry, pH by potentiometry, total soluble solids by refractometry, moisture and ash by gravimetry. The study showed that the pH of the pulp was 3.41; and in the candy it was 3.31. The titratable acidity in the strawberry pulp had a value of 0.186 g/100 mL and in the jam 0.096 g/100 mL; the ascorbic acid content in the pulp was 18.60 mg∕100 g. The average soluble solids content in the pulp was 9.51 °Brix and for the jam 68.83 °Brix. These chemical characteristics of the pulp and jam provide information about their nutritional values.
Cardiovascular imaging analysis is a useful tool for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases. Imaging techniques allow non-invasive quantitative assessment of cardiac function, providing morphological, functional and dynamic information. Recent technological advances in ultrasound have made it possible to improve the quality of patient treatment, thanks to the use of modern image processing and analysis techniques. However, the acquisition of these dynamic three-dimensional (3D) images leads to the production of large volumes of data to process, from which cardiac structures must be extracted and analyzed during the cardiac cycle. Extraction, three-dimensional visualization, and qualification tools are currently used within the clinical routine, but unfortunately require significant interaction with the physician. These elements justify the development of new efficient and robust algorithms for structure extraction and cardiac motion estimation from three-dimensional images. As a result, making available to clinicians new means to accurately assess cardiac anatomy and function from three-dimensional images represents a definite advance in the investigation of a complete description of the heart from a single examination. The aim of this article is to show what advances have been made in 3D cardiac imaging by ultrasound and additionally to observe which areas have been studied under this imaging modality.
Simple mathematical expressions are given for the betweenness centrality of nodes in trees, forests and cycles. As application, a centrality test is given for when a network might be a forest.
