The Nevado de Toluca Flora and Fauna Protection Area presents a constant fragmentation of its forests. The objective of the research was to identify the processes of forest deterioration and the role of local stakeholders in its conservation. Geographic information systems were used as a basis for the generation of thematic maps, in addition to the application of a flow diagram that defines the problems of the forest and another that describes and analyzes them for the search of solutions. The results show that the main factors affecting deterioration are forest fires, immoderate logging, pests and diseases. Finally, strategies and scenarios for forest management are proposed based on the articulation of local stakeholders.
The wet saturated flue gas discharged by coal-fired utility boilers leads to a large amount of low-temperature waste heat loss. Inorganic ceramic membrane is acid-base resistant and has strong chemical stability. It is an ideal material for recovering low-temperature waste heat from flue gas. The experiment of waste heat recovery of flue gas was carried out with inorganic ceramic membrane as the core, and the characteristic parameters of low-temperature flue gas at the tail of the boiler were analyzed; taking 316 L stainless steel as the comparative object, the strengthening effect of inorganic ceramic film on improving heat recovery power and composite heat transfer coefficient was discussed. The results show that the waste heat recovery of flue gas is mainly the evaporation latent heat recovery of water, accounting for about 90%; circulating water is used as cooling medium, and the waste heat recovery capacity of flue gas is stronger; compared with circulating water, when air is used as the cooling medium, the effect of inorganic ceramic membrane flue gas waste heat recovery is more significant, and the enhancement coefficient is as high as 9; increasing the flue gas flow is helpful to improve the heat recovery power and composite heat transfer coefficient; at the same time, inorganic ceramic membrane can also recover condensate with high water quality. The results of this paper can provide a reference for the application of inorganic ceramic membrane in flue gas waste heat recovery.
The US Infrastructure Investment and Job Act (IIJA), also commonly referred to as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, passed in 2021, has drawn international attention. It aims to help to rebuild US infrastructure, including transportation networks, broadband, water, power and energy, environmental protection and public works projects. An estimated $1.2 trillion in total funding over ten years will be allocated. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill is the largest funding bill for US infrastructure in the recent history of the United States. This review article will specifically discuss funding allocations for roads and bridges, power and grids, broadband, water infrastructure, airports, environmental protection, ports, Western water infrastructure, electric vehicle charging stations and electric school buses in the new spending of the Infrastructure Investment and Job Act and why these investments are urgently necessary. This article will also briefly discuss the views of think tank experts, the public policy perspectives, the impact on domestic and global arenas of the new spending in the IIJA, and the public policy implications.
