Sinophone Asia Review

Sinophone Asia Review is an international peer-reviewed journal devoted to Sinophone studies, Chinese studies, classical Sinology, and the study of Chinese-language cultures across Asia. The journal aims to advance interdisciplinary scholarship on Chinese literary, cultural, historical, linguistic, philosophical, and social traditions, with particular attention to Southeast Asia and transregional Chinese cultural networks.


The journal welcomes original research articles, review essays, translation studies, archival studies, and critical discussions in areas including, but not limited to:

· Classical Chinese literature, philosophy, historiography, and textual traditions

· Modern and contemporary Chinese literature, culture, film, theatre, and media

· Sinophone communities, identities, and cultural production in Asia

· Chinese-language education, multilingualism, dialect communities, and language contact

· Overseas Chinese history, migration, religion, associations, and social networks

· Chinese cultural heritage, intellectual history, and knowledge transmission

· China–Southeast Asia cultural exchange, maritime history, and regional connectivity

· Translation, reception, adaptation, and circulation of Chinese texts and ideas

· Comparative studies of Chineseness, ethnicity, diaspora, and cultural identity

· Interdisciplinary approaches to Sinology, Asian studies, and cultural studies


The journal especially welcomes scholarship that connects traditional Sinological research with contemporary Sinophone perspectives, regional Chinese communities, and cross-cultural exchange in Asia.
