Hospital performance possesses strategic significance in achieving an essential completive advantage for the public hospitals. This study aimed to examine the relationship between patient safety culture (PSC) and the performance of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) public hospitals in Sichuan, China. To address the research purpose, this study analyses the hospital performance and Patient safety culture in traditional Chinese medicine public hospital in China. We examine the propose model by analyzing cross-sectional survey data from 194 clinical directors at 194 public traditional Chinese medicine hospitals using the Partial least squares structural equation model in Smart PLS 4.0. This study provides predictive evidence that PSC in unit management and management support can lead to better patient safety outcomes. The results revealed patient safety outcomes significantly and positively effects of patient safety related to unit management and management support on overall hospital performance (p-value: 0.000–0.003).
5G technology is transforming healthcare by enhancing precision, efficiency, and connectivity in diagnostics, treatments, and remote monitoring. Its integration with AI and IoT is set to revolutionize healthcare standards. This study aims to establish the state of the art in research on 5G technology and its impact on healthcare innovation. A systematic review of 79 papers from digital libraries such as IEEE Xplore, Scopus, Springer, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate was conducted, covering publications from 2018 to 2024. Among the reviewed papers, China and India emerge as leaders in 5G health-related publications. Scopus, Springer Link, and IEEE Xplore house the majority of first-quartile (Q1) papers, whereas Science Direct and other sources show a higher proportion in the second quartile (Q2) and lower rankings. The predominance of Q1 papers in Scopus, Springer Link, and IEEE Xplore underscores these platforms’ influence and recognition, reflecting significant advancements in both practice and theory, and highlighting the expanding application of 5G technology in healthcare.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the imperative of physical distancing has underscored the necessity for telemedicine solutions. Traditionally, telemedicine systems have operated synchronously, requiring scheduled appointments. This study introduces an innovative telemedicine system integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable asynchronous communication between physicians and patients, eliminating the need for appointments and providing round-the-clock access from any location. The AI-Telemedicine system was developed utilizing Google Sheets and Google Forms. Patients can receive dietary recommendations from the AI acting as the physician and submit self-reports through the system. Physicians have access to patients’ submitted reports and can adjust AI settings to tailor recommendations accordingly. The AI-Telemedicine system for patients requiring daily dietary recommendations has been successfully developed, meeting all nine system requirements. System privacy and security are ensured through user account access controls within Google Sheets. This AI-Telemedicine system facilitates seamless communication between physicians and patients in situations requiring physical distancing, eliminating the need for appointments. Patients have round-the-clock access to the system, with AI serving as a physician surrogate whenever necessary. This system serves as a potential model for future telemedicine solutions.
Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting is a promising technological approach for various applications in the biomedical field. Natural polymers, which comprise the majority of 3D printable “bioinks”, have played a crucial role in various 3D bioprinting technologies during the layered 3D manufacturing processes in the last decade. However, the polymers must be customized for printing and effector function needs in cancer, dental care, oral medicine and biosensors, cardiovascular disease, and muscle restoration. This review provides an overview of 3D bio-printed natural polymers—commonly employed in various medical fields—and their recent development.
Based on our 11 years of medical bachelor's degree education practice for international students in China, combined with the national "the Belt and Road" strategic background and the "Quality Standards of Higher Education for International Students in China (Trial)" issued by the Ministry of Education, this paper explores the strategies to improve the quality of medical education in China. Specifically, it includes: 1) optimizing the enrollment standards of students from countries along the "the Belt and Road"; 2) Improve the quality assurance system for medical bachelor's degree education in China; 3) Innovate the management concept of "convergence"; 4) Establish a comprehensive education system for the cultivation of international students in China; 5) Strengthen the process monitoring role of awarding standards for medical bachelor's degrees in China. To provide theoretical support and reference for our school and sister universities to improve the quality of medical bachelor's degree education in China.
To address gaps in practical skills among Public Health and Preventive Medicine graduates, an ‘open collaborative practice teaching model’ integrating medicine, teaching, and research was introduced. A cross-sectional study surveyed 312 Preventive Medicine undergraduates at a Yunnan medical university from 2020 to 2023, utilizing satisfaction scores and analyses (cluster, factor, SWOT) to assess the impact of the reform. Satisfaction scores from baseline, mid-term, and end-term assessments showed minor variations (4.30, 4.29, 4.36), with dissatisfaction primarily related to teaching content and methods. Key influences on satisfaction included teaching content, methods, and effectiveness. The SWOT analysis highlighted the importance of continuously updating teaching strategies to meet changing student expectations. This study suggests that the model has the potential for wider use in enhancing public health education, particularly in regions facing similar challenges.
