  • Dr Quanshun Luo's research interests are in broad areas of materials science and engineering with expertise in characterization of materials and surfaces using X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and related X-ray/electron spectroscopic techniques. Most of his research has been in metallurgy, manufacturing industry, surface engineering technologies and tribology, with more than 100 research publications. Recently his research involves metallic materials of medical implants.

  • I have a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Rio de Janeiro (1989), a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1992) and a PhD in Medicine (Radiology) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1998). I am currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Radiology of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. I have been the Coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Medicine (Radiology) / UFRJ from November 2005 to September 2014. I am the Founder and the Head of the Labeling of Cells and Molecules Lab (LMCM) / UFRJ, created in 2002, Professor of Postgraduate Program in Medicine (Radiology) / UFRJ and the Graduate Program in Medical Clinic / UFRJ (since 2012). I was a representative of CEPG / UFRJ from December 2010 to February 2014. I have experience in Nuclear Medicine, with emphasis on Radiopharmacy, working mainly on the following topics: cancer, infection, transplants, cell therapies, stem cells, leukocytes and antibodies.

  • Professor Lanza was born in Catania (Italy) in 1982. After a 3-years activity as Senior Academic Researcher, he currently serves as Associate Professor and Dean of Applied Medical Sciences Techniques at the University of Catania. After graduation with honours in Medicine, he trained at the School of Neurology and got the international PhD at the same University. As visiting Clinical Research Fellow, he further trained at the Department of Neuroscience and at the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit of the Newcastle University, Newcastle-upon-Tyne (UK). In 2013, he was selected for a Scientific Fellowship promoted by the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS). From 2013 to October 2018, he worked as a Consultant Neurologist at the Oasi Research Institute–IRCCS in Troina (Italy), which is a Collaborating Center of the World Health Organization, and where now he currently holds the position of Head of the Clinical Neurophysiology Research Unit. From 2015 to October 2018, he taught Neurology at the University of Enna (Italy), where he has recently come back to continue the teaching activity. He has authored approximately 200 publications in internationally-indexed peer-reviewed Journals and Conferences or Meetings, and he currently serves as Editor and invited Reviewer of several International Journals. More recently, he has obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Research, the qualification as Full Professor (procedure for the Italian University Professor recruiting, based on rigorous scientific qualification criteria), and an international award for translational research in sleep medicine.

I provided coverage for clinical duties for other cancer sites, hence I keep updating myself on other medical disciplines as well, e.g. geriatrics, palliative care, pediatrics, pediatric oncology, internal medicine, general surgery regarding latest research that will aid in joined medical decision making with patients. In fact my latest publication is on wound healing by photodynamic therapy on 27 Aug 2024. I practiced in Hong Kong for a total of 7.5 years before immigration to Canada in Feb 1992. My further training (July 1994-Oct 1998 ) and subsequent work (Nov 1998-Apr 2020) in North America widen my perspective on cultural sensitivity and understanding of sustainable health care delivery, drug development process and importance of collaboration with pharmaceutical sales managers e.g. Goserelin (AstraZeneca and later TerSera), Enzalutamide (Astellas), Leuprolide (Abbvie), Degarelix (Ferring), radium-223 (Bayer) to promote their products by providing in-services/talks/publications with case reports and review. I am experienced in preparation of consents, safety documents for Institutional Review Board (IRB), writing clinical trial protocols and manuscripts for journal publications, I wrote the first draft for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG, later renamed as NRG ) 0518 randomized phase III trial on zoledronic acid. With a mature personality, superior networking skills (knowing a lot of doctors in Canada and Hong Kong), administrative skills (as the department head and principal investigator before) and research skills (as principal investigators of multiple clincial trials), I am confident that I would become an asset of your organization, building the team to achieve its missions."

  • He got a PhD degree in Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics in 2020. During the period of PhD study, he was jointly trained by China-US government-sponsored overseas study program. After that, he becomes a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2022-2023. Now, he is a member of the Pearl River Talent Program in Guangdong Province. His main research directions are advanced semiconductor imaging technology, and multifunctional medical imaging chips & systems. to now, he has published nearly 50 academic papers, filed/granted 58/18 Chinese invention patents, and held multiple PCT patents.

  • Helena Cristina Vasconcelos is an Assistant Professor of Materials Physics at the University of Azores, at S. Miguel Island, Portugal. She received her doctorate (PhD) from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal) in 1999 in the field of Materials Engineering. Currently she is responsible for teaching a wide range of subjects including Materials Sciences, Physics, Biophysics and Biomaterials. Aiming to promote the Azores University, she regularly collaborates in exchange programs, open days of science in schools and scientific activities integrated into the National Program for Science and Technology for young people. She is a member of the Portuguese Society of Physics. She chaired several international conferences and develops its research activity in CEFITEC (Center for Physical and Technological Research), Nova University of Lisbon, FCT/UNL, Portugal). Also she developed and organized several scientific events. As a researcher, she has participated in several national and international projects, as a project leader or as a collaborator. She is author (and co-author) of 11 book chapters and published several ISI scientific papers. She is a reviewer in several ISI journals. Her scientific research focuses on the preparation, development and characterization of glass and thin films for optical applications, ceramic materials and/or glasses for biomedical applications and a recent line of research includes natural materials (natural fiber biocomposites). Helena C. Vasconcelos had several academic management positions at the University of the Azores, as Head of the Department of Technological Sciences and Development, Member of the Scientific Council and Director of the Section of Physics.
  • Li-Gang Wang is a professor of optical physics at Zhejiang University. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees from Zhejiang University in 1999 and 2002, respectively, and got his Ph. D degree from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2005. Then he served as Associate Professor at Department of Physics till 2014. From 2008 to 2010, he was a Research Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also did his postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M University from 2013 to 2014. He had also visited Center for Quantum Physics at CIIT, Pakistan and visited the National Center for Applied Physics at KACST, Saudi Arabia. He has published over 100 research papers on topics such as optics in curved space, singular optics, coherence optics, optical imaging & tweezers, light propagations, slow and fast-light propagations, and Goo-Hanchen shifts.

  • "Newly recruited to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as an Associate Professor in Health Physics & Diagnostic Sciences, with an expertise in radiation biology. Previously a Research Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), where she headed a research group focused on understanding how space radiation perturbs the cell and its microenvironment to potentiate cancer risk. Her long-term interests are to understand the mechanisms that contribute to the etiology of radiation-induced mammary carcinogenesis. She has a career-long interest in repair of DNA double-strand breaks, the most damaging lesion induced by radiation. Her work elucidates the proteins, pathways, and networks critical for the damage response. Her undergraduate training was in microbiology at the University of Minnesota. She earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Vermont and completed postdoctoral training at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and Stanford.   • Dr Jim O’ Doherty is a certified principal physicist at Sidra Hospital, Qatar and an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine. He has previously worked at King’s College London as a research PET scientist, and has held other clinical and academic positions in the UK, Ireland and Sweden. His research interests include quantitative multimodality imaging, radionuclide dosimetry, MR spectroscopy, cardiac perfusion in PET and MRI and quality standard in Radiology.

  • Dr. Gaurav Malviya did his PhD and Postdoc in Nuclear Imaging and Molecular Imaging field. He established a new pre-clinical imaging (Mediso nanoScan PET/MRI) facility in the Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute. Dr Malviya’s research interests include the development and pre-clinical evaluation of novel PET/SPECT radiotracers for translational imaging in advanced cancer murine models.
  • I have a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil (2004), a Master's Degree in Materials, Minerals and Radiation Sciences from the Development Center of the Nuclear Technology, Brazil (2006), and a PhD in Physics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais - UFMG, Brazil (2012). Currently, I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Nuclear Energy, UFMG, where I have been developing academic researches in the nuclear reactors field, specifically associated with thermal analysis of spent nuclear fuels disposal. I am also a third-year medical student of the Medical School of the UFMG. In the medical area, I have been conducting basic researches in animal models related to the effects of ionizing radiation on the immunological system.

  • Apollonov V.V. is the leading specialist in the area of basic principles of creation and development of high power laser systems and high power laser radiation interaction with matter. He has made an outstanding input into creation and development of new branches of science - physical and technical fundamentals of high power laser optics and adaptive optics, investigation of physical processes in a high volume self-controlled volume discharges, creation of high power continuous wave, pulsed and high repetition rate pulse-periodic laser systems, high intensity laser radiation interaction with matter, high power laser application for an effective protection of valuable objects and water surface cleaning from oil films, medical applications for UV lasers. Recent results of his investigations related to the laser diode arrays phase-locking, mechanisms of shock waves merging for a rockets launch by high repetition rate pulse-periodic laser light, super long conductive channel based on the electrical breakdown in a dust plasma produced by mechanism of ablation, high repetition rate optical pulsating discharge applications, space debris elimination by laser, scalable mono-module disk laser and high power laser applications in the Arctic are under very intensive implementation in our country and abroad. Apollonov V.V. is a high profile scientist and well known around all over the world, for more than 49 years of his international scientific activity, he has participated and organized more than 60 international conferences, symposiums and workshops, prepared 32 candidates and doctors of physics and mathematics. For the last 5 years his scientific group has fulfilled more than 60 R and D contracts with customers from Japan, UK, Germany, France, China, Korea, Singapore and USA. He is the General Director of “Energomashtechnika” Ltd. Apollonov V.V. is the member of European and American Physical Society, SPIE, AIAA, American Society for QE and the member of specialized scientific council of Russia. He is a full member of Russian Academy of Natural Science and Academy of Engineering Sciences, member of the Presidium RANS. He is the laureate of State Prize of USSR (1982), of Russia (2001) and ECOWORLD-2017 International prize.

He is currently working at Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology as assistant professor. My areas of interest and specialization are Oral Medicine, Dentomaxillofacial Radiology and Oral Pathologies.   • Prof. D. K. Dhawan is presently working as a Professor in the department of Biophysics and has also worked as chairman department of Biophysics, Coordinator of Centre for Nuclear Medicine as well as Centre for Medical Physics at Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. Professor Dhawan did his Ph.D. from PGIMER, Chandigarh, India, in the year 1984. Prior to his Ph.D., he worked in Radiation Medicine Centre of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India and was awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Radioisotopes Techniques. His research areas are radiation medicine, neurodegeneration and cancer. He has published 197 research articles and 158 are listed in Scopus during 33 years of his research career. Prof. Dhawan has supervised 37 Ph.D. and 44 M.Sc. theses of students. He is a Fellow of Union for International Cancer Control, Indian College of Nuclear Medicine and Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists. Recently, he was given Oration award by Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists at its 38th Annual conference held at Chennai.
