The northern territories of Russia need high-quality strategic digital changes in the structure of the regional economy. Digitalization and the introduction of digital technologies in the medium term will be able to transform economic relations in the old industrial and raw materials regions of the North, improve the quality of life of local communities. The growth of digital inequality among the regions under study leads to disproportions in their socio-economic development. The purpose of this study is to develop and test a methodology for assessing the level of development of the digital infrastructure of the Russian northern regions, including classification of an indicators system for each level of digital infrastructure, calculation of an integral index and typology of the territories under study. The objects of the study were 13 northern regions of the Russian Federation, the entire territory of which is classified as regions of the Extreme North and equivalent areas. The methodology made it possible to determine the level of technical, technological and personnel readiness of the northern regions for digitalization, to identify regions with the best solutions at each level of digital infrastructure development. The analysis of the results in dynamics helped to assess the effectiveness of regional policy for managing digitalization processes. As a result, the authors came to the conclusion that increasing the competitiveness of northern regions in the era of rapid digitalization is possible through investments in human capital and the creation of a network of scientific and technological clusters. The presented approach to assessing the development of individual levels and elements of digital infrastructure will allow for the diagnosis of priority needs of territories under study in the field of digitalization. The results of the study can form the basis for regional policy in the field of sustainable digital development of Russia.
One of the most frequently debated subjects in international forums is economic growth, which is regarded as a global priority. Consequently, researchers have turned their attention from conventional economic growth at a single average coefficient to divisible economic growth at levels of its value. Although the existing literature has discussed several determinants of economic growth, our article contributes to examining the sources of economic growth in African countries during the generations of reforms from 1990 to 2019 and in the context of economic vulnerability. The variables used in the analysis are gross domestic product, trade openness, financial development, and economic vulnerability. The study uses a quantile regression econometric model to examine these variables at different stages of reform. Quantile regression (QR) estimates for quantiles 0.05 to 0.95 showed mixed results: financial development is favorable to African economic growth at all quantile levels. However, economic vulnerability is a major impediment to economic growth at all quantile levels. In addition, it was found that a high degree of trade openness has a detrimental effect on African economic growth from quantile 0.5 of the dependent variable. Finally, another important result proves that financial development is a remedy for decision-makers against economic vulnerability.
Heat transfer augmentation procedures, such as Heat Transfer Enhancement and Intensification, are commonly used in heat exchanger systems to enhance thermal performance by decreasing thermal resistance and increasing convective heat transfer rates. Swirl-flow devices, such as coiled tubes, twisted-tape inserts, and other geometric alterations, are commonly used to create secondary flow and improve the efficiency of heat transfer. This study aimed to explore the performance of a heat exchanger by comparing its performance with and without the use of twisted-tape inserts. The setup consisted of a copper inner tube measuring 13 mm in inner diameter and 15 mm in outer diameter, together with an outer pipe measuring 23 mm in inner diameter and 25 mm in outer diameter. Mild steel twisted tapes with dimensions of 2 mm thickness, 1.2 cm width, and twist ratios of 4.3 and 7.2 were utilised. The findings indicated that the heat transfer coefficient was 192.99 W/m² °C when twisted-tape inserts were used, while it was 276.40 W/m² °C without any inserts. The experimental results closely aligned with the theoretical assumptions, demonstrating a substantial enhancement in heat transfer performance by the utilisation of twisted-tape inserts. The study provides evidence that the utilisation of twisted-tape inserts resulted in a nearly two times increase in the heat transfer coefficient, hence demonstrating their efficacy in augmenting heat transfer.
The objective of this research was to analyze several reading and writing methods used in educational settings, evaluating their pedagogical approaches and their effectiveness in the process of learning to read and write in school-age children. A systematic review was carried out in the open databases Dialnet and ScieELO, using different inclusion and exclusion criteria, which resulted in 164 documents, applying the PRISMA protocol, 20 were selected. A narrative synthesis analysis was carried out on the following dimensions: reading and writing methods, applied strategies, similarities with other methods and impact on the development of literacy. It is concluded that the combined application of the methods of synthetic and analytical approaches to reading and writing paves the way to attend to the diversity of learning styles, facilitates the strengthening of specific linguistic skills, and strengthens reading comprehension and writing competence.
